Question Quick Help - 'Petition to Finalize...' Form

Hey Everyone!

Help, Help, Help!

We are debating staying in between trips because it appears that we may have a quick turn-around. One of the things our instructions from our dossier says to bring the 'Petition to Finalize Adoption' form. It says the document must be notartized and apostilled. Then it goes on to say that we need to bring a note from our doctor saying why we are adopting (that needs to be notarized & apostiled too). Did you all have to do this before the 2nd trip? This would be a deal breaker because we are leaving tomorrow (Monday). If it makes a difference, we re going to Kirov.

Thanks.

I can't help you with the forms...our process was different...but a "note from your doctor" saying why you are adopting? What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?? Oy!

Is that in your dossier packet or is that more specific region request?
As far as the petition to finalize, we filled that out over there both times, the coordinator guided us thru that. So I wouldn't worry about that one.

Yes, I had to have those documents for trip 2. Have you considered typing them up and having a friend or relative get them apostilled and send them to you by overnight mail?

Thanks everyone. It isn't region specific. Its was part of our dossier packet, but said we didn't need to bring it until trip #2. It has a part for the coordinator to fill out too. I just wasn't sure if we need to already have it notarized and apostilled and THEN bring it, or we could just go with a blank form.

You can get thing notarized in Russia. I'm completely mystified about why your doctor is writing a letter about your intentions to adopt, though.

Happy travels, Jen! Here's hoping for a QUICK turn around.

We had to have the letter from our doctor - I thought it was strange as well...but totally required. The finalization form was done in country - our notaries and apolistiles would not be placed on a form without all signatures needed.

Have a safe trip! Hope everything goes smoothly!

(Sorry -- no idea re paperwork -- hope this all turns out -- notary has to WATCH you sign anything, for appostille, notary has to be on they're "nice" list). Maybe do over there?

Hi Jen, How great that court may be so quick! I hope it all works out. I just wanted to suggest also bringing along the documentation that you need for the embassy, if you have not already thought of that. I cannot remember them off the top off my head, but I am sure it is listed on the embassy website. Please keep us posted! How exciting that your baby will be home so soon!
