The Dr's finally figured out what's causing some of my girls' pooping problems....

H. Pylori....thank goodness we can start treating for that now after being home almost 5 months. They both have abdominal pain and wake during the night (especially the younger one). Now we just have to test for parasites again in a few months to definitely rule those out. I never knew there would be so much medical testing once we got home. I am at the doctor's office about every week for something! The international adoption clinic has been especially wonderful and helpful to us.

That is what we had!

Have they started him on the antibiotics yet? It is amazing how fast they start gaining weight once they are done with the medicene. Our son had it, and he had weighed only 16 lbs when we got him home in December and then only weighed 18 lbs by August, and once we treated him last August, he gained weight and started getting taller really fast! I think he was 26 inches tall when we brought him home, but I am not sure exactly. (I think his feet are getting pretty big too! - I just got him size 9 tennis shoes) He is now going to be 3 in December, and he is 37 inches tall and weighs over 30 pounds. (which is great to us!!!) He is definately a different child too. He was so irratable and just unhappy quite a bit before they treated him. Now is is just a happy little man. (he of course has his moments though)

Well good luck to you!!!! I hope all goes well with his treatment!

Take care,
Renae

You must be so relieved to know what's going on - DD tested positive for this too but just borderline. I am actually going to have the recheck her because she keeps telling me her tummy hurts but her stools are pretty normal....

Hope truly messy diapers are a thing of the past !

Just remember, once someone gets H. Pylori, they are more susceptible to getting it again. Sometimes, even after the round of antibiotics, a carrier will still have a positive stool test.

I am an H. Pylori carrier – I’ve been on the antibiotic regimen three times in the last six years.

My suggestion would be to have the H. Pylori (a relatively inexpensive test) screen done once a year, with your annual physical.

Also, do a little research on H. Pylori, as it also makes carriers more susceptible to stomach ulcers…and having a little knowledge about it could save you from extensive testing in the future, if something comes up later in life.

Glad you were able to find out what the problem was!

So glad you found out the cause of your little ones' discomfort. We were ready to check Danny for that, when we eliminated wheat and dairy from his diet and the problems stopped.

That really IS super news! It just goes to show you that if you suspect there's an issue, you should trust your instincts and keep pushing for a definitive answer until you get one. I am sure they will grow like little weeds with proper treatment.

Don't forget - that is VERY CONTAGEOUS! Be careful while cleaning up after your child potties - and it can also be transferred in the bath water if you bathe with them!

I know - I GOT IT TOO! It is not a great thing to have!!
