Unhappy OT--Please Pray for the Family and All the Kids

My 18-year-old dd just called me with news that a senior at the high school in the small town we lived in until mid 2002 killed himself. She's pretty shook up and I guess pretty much everyone from the junior high up is having a really hard time with it. The town is only @ 3500 people and the school usually graduates 70 or so a year. This boy was in the class behind my dd. My niece is in his class. From all reports, all the kids knew him and liked him. Just hearing my daughter's voice breaking brought tears to my eyes. It's hard to see your kid's hurting and you don't know what to say. His poor parents. This is everyone's worst nightmare. This also seems to be a bad problem there or it sure seems to be for a town that size.

Please pray for his parents and family as well as all the kids (and adults too) as they struggle to work through this. I know how the guilt is. We lost a guy I worked with to suicide a few years back and everyone spent months wondering what they had missed or what they could've done. This is just SO sad!!!

Prayers are with them. And with him. God only knows the pain of any single idividual. I know that most religions shun and reject people who have done such a thing.

But I feel only compassion, and pity, for him, his family, and his community.

That is not to say that any among you should feel guilt for failure to know what he was feeling. He obviously felt terrible, but just could not express or explain it to anyone. None of us are mind-readers.

It sounds like most of the kids are taking it VERY hard. This boy was a kid that everybody liked...football team, basketball team, chorus...you name it. It was so bad that they post-poned the Homecoming game scheduled last Friday and were holding memorial services in the gym.

For any of you that listen to country music, it's like the Blaine Larsen song. For anybody that hasn't heard that one, they need to listen to it.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers everyone. I know they all appreciate it.
