Hi KaydensMama,

2 years ago when I was doing this, it was fairly simple. You General Dr. could sign a letter (after a checkup) stating that you where in good general health, and where physically fit to rear a child. I did have to have an HIV and other blood work done, and write a history of health, i.e. operations, illnesses, etc., but fairly simple. My friend adopted this past winter/spring, and she had to have a form signed by 8 different doctors/specialists, a phsycological exam, more indepth Homestudy/social worker visits, etc. All still fairly simple, just time consuming, and more paperwork added to your dossier. I know that you will receive ALOT of responses from the great people here on the Board that have more recent experiences.

I can tell you.... no matter how much paperwork, possible sleepless nights, etc. IT IS ALL SOOOOO Worth it when you have your son or daughter home with you!!!

Blessings.....................

And if you're a woman - you also gotta make a trip to the vet.

Hi!
We adopted our daughter in May of this year. We took lots of bloodwork results and chest xray films with us. The MD evals were very easy-had to take off my shirt a few times, but that was about it for me and dh. NO GYN exams, thank goodness. We had ours done in Glasov though, the own our daughter was living in.

We adopted from Vlad this summer. We had to do the 8 doctor form, but were allowed to have the GP fill it all out. We also had to get a letter from the State Board of Medical Examiners stating that a GP was allowed to give their opionion on other medical specialties (or something like that). We did have to get our HIV/syphilis /TB tests done, and actually had to have it all redone, including the form. They were real sticklers for having it all dated within 3 months of court.
