I'm a Papa!
 Hi all. I just wanted to drop a line to let you all know that (about 20 hours ago) on Thursday, 20 September 2006 at about 5:35pm in a little courtroom in Vladivostok, Russia my wife and I were granted our petition for adoption. Our 10 days was NOT waved (which was expected). We had the chief judge in Vladivostok (the one that reviews the cases and passes cases out to the other judges) and a very "easy" prosecutor...or so we were told. The prosecutor that walked into the courtroom was not who was expected, in fact, she was the hardest prosecutors who doesn't like international adoptions, or Nahodka (where our baby was from). After a few questions from the judge the prosecutor grilled us (me for 40+ minutes, my wife for 20+ minutes). We are told that this was very short for her! The judgement will become official on Oct 3, 2006 and we fly home on the 7th. I am proud to say that I am now the papa of a very intelligent, beautiful, strong willed, and independant 3 1/2 yr old girl who loves to be tickled and chased. I can't wait to bring her home!

Two boys (5 and 7) Feb 05 to Aug 06 unsuccessful in Russia August 06, changing countries (paperchasing) Oct 06 dossier sent to agency Nov 06 dossier made it through the Embassy, now it's on its way to Kaz!! Dec 06 dossier at the first Ministry (MFA) Jan 06 dossier now at second Ministry (MOE) One more to go.....that's the regional one Still hoping for LOI (letter of invitation) in Jan Jan 31---dossier still at MOE, no LOI in Jan  Feb 16--We know our region--Karaganda Kaz. Last step in the process--wait for LOI March 15 07--received LOI Left for Kaz March 21 Paperwork glitch but decided to stay while it was handled (hence the long time between leaving for trip and court) Court May22, 2007

BTW: we too adopted a very intelligent, beautiful, strong willed, and independent 3 1/2 yr old girl in March. She is a challenge, but also melts are hearts everyday.
