Prayers Please Too.....
Dear Internet Friends,
This seems to be the week for asking for prayers, and I come here humbly asking the same. We had 1 of our (we have 2) beloved Goldens, Wrigley, to the vet 2 months ago to have a benign tumor removed from his paw, everything came back fine. Well, last week, another one shows up, off to the vet we go. While there, the vet feels a swollen lymph node, I do not like the sounds of this already. Our first Golden, Rusty, died of Lymphoma 9 years ago. He thinks it may be swollen from the infection in his paw. So we get medication and are to go back in a week, which is tomorrow. This morning my phone is ringing at 8:30, and I see it is the vet calling, not sure why. She calls to tell me that she had the biopsy called back to have it reviewed by the lab again, and this time they tell her they do see very abnormal cells. How did they miss this the first time ? She thinks Wrigley is in the first stage of Lymphoma. My heart fell to the floor, the tears were rolling. We have had both of these dogs before we adopted our children. And as many of you also have pets, you know what these pets mean to you, especially when you were once childless. I can not fathom going thru this again. Tomorrow we discuss our options and what course we want to go. I am praying that if this really is Lymphoma that we have caught it very early and that we can treat it. Most Goldens diagnosed with this, if in basically good health, only live up to one year after diagnosis.....Wrigley is just going to be 5. I am hoping for more than that. My other Golden, Jake, is already 9, and aging. So please pray for Wrigley if you have a free moment. He sends you licks and rubs......and I thank you. Cheryl

Oh Cheryl, I totally understand. I am so sorry you are going through this again. And you are exactly right...they are one of the family. Prayers are being sent your way and for your "Golden Heart."

I totally understand! They were your only children for a time and it's a difficult thing to go through. You have my sympathies and my prayers. Good luck!

I can understand we lost our beloved furbaby a few months back after having her 11 years she is dearly missed, hoping everything will be ok, with your furbaby.....

Prayers coming your way. My first two babies were Golden's. They are the best. I can't wait to get one for the kids.

My animals have always been my "kids" and so I know how hard this is for you. I am praying for you and praying that Wrigely can be treated successfully, so that he will be able to live a productive life for several more years. I know this is a very sad time for you in that it brings up many sad memories of losing Rusty. I'm so sorry . . .

Just found your post and had to say I'm so very, very sorry.
We lost four kitties since January, all of whom were with us since long before our DD came home to us. The house feels incredibly empty without them. But we've just found two lovely rescues that we hope to bring home Friday. (They're currently living at my gyno's office). There are great Golden rescue groups (my cuz has two rescue Goldens). And perhaps your baby's situation is not so dire? I pray for all of you.
