Hello everyone!
I wanted to let you all know that court went great, and at 4:00pm Astrakhan time on August 22nd, the judge found in our favor - after 1 and a half hours of questions! We picked the baby up from the orphanage the following morning. She never cried, never looked back. They walked her in the room wearing the cute little pink dress I brought for the occasion. She came right to me with a big smile. The two days in Astrakhan with her were hot. Over 100 degrees each day, and a baby who had never been in an airconditioned room.. So, we slowly cooled things off in there over the course of the two days, but never quite got cool enough for DH and I. She didn't sleep a wink on the two and a half hour plane ride from Astrakhan to Moscow. But, she was all smiles and spent a lot of time peeking at the little boy in the seat behind her. We are in an apartment in Moscow, so have all the comforts of home.. Well, except for the fact that it's not home... I miss being home, miss DS A LOT!!! But we are in a two bedroom apartment, internet, dvd player and cable with english channels, full kitchen that was even stocked with some food.DH left for home today. He'll be home by Monday afternoon. DD and I are here until next weekend. DH and I took her to the supermarket yesterday and stocked up on everything we will need for the week. I'm set, but I think it will get very lonely... I'm sure I'll be checking emails every time she's asleep - as she is right now. She's awesome. She is such a happy baby. I know that I could be in the honeymoon phase right now - but I'd like to think that she's just an awesome little girl and we will continue with this blissful state! I brought her a bunch of toys, dolls, books. Everything a baby would want!! Her favorite thing to play with - the mirror.... Her toys, dolls, food, clothes - they all have their usefulness.... They are something to take to the mirror and look at in her reflection She loves to play peek a boo. She will cover her head with a blanket or shirt or towel, I'll say 'where's the baby' and then she pulls it off and laughs. She also loves to be chased and tickled. She has learned - in two days - the sign for more. So, she will often walk into the kitchen, point at a banana or cheerios box, and do the more sign. But of course, being a baby, sometimes she doesn't use the sign and just cries... But honestly that doesn't happen very often! Most of the time she is all smiles and curiosity. She loves to get kisses and tickles. She also loves to tickle me. Any time she sees some exposed skin, she tries to tickle me and then she giggles and giggles. Of course, mommy has to giggle, too! When she is tired, she rubs her eyes, then puts one thumb in her mouth and wraps the other arm over her head and rubs the back of her head. It's soooo cute! Well, enough for now. I can't wait to get home! Pictures will have to wait until then. ![]()

Sorry, I won't be able to post pictures until I get home. I have no way to download them on this computer...
She is almost 15 months old. And although crawling races do sound fun - this little one would beat the pants off of me because she is walking and running - ok, well, walking and staggering . DH calls her the drunken sailor. Since he is ex-Navy, he ought to know! I told him that she takes after her daddy! |

Oh Kim how wonderful!!!
We have all been waiting for this post from you. I am so happy to hear she is such a good baby girl...may you be blessed with a forever honeymoon. You certainly deserve it. I know you said prior to leaving you had some stories about your initial meeting...I so can't wait to hear them. And what is your angel's name? Thank you God for finally bringing this family together! All the best...

Your joy just shines from your post.
I, too will be playing with my little one in just 2 short weeks!! You have had such a rough time, but as I said to a friend today, "it's almost like chilbirth, you really don't forget the pain but once you have the baby it just doesn't matter anymore"!! Again, congrats and I'm so happy for you, you sound thrilled. |
