Looking for ACTIVITIES for a two year old

My DD will be two years old in just under two weeks. She has been home with me about 90 % of this first year home, and she is ready to get out and get involved in some toddler activities. Our local YMCA has some swim classes, with parent involvment, that I can get her started in soon. I checked with Little Gym as well. Their program for toddlers sounds very appealing, but seems expensive to me. What I like about their program is, again, the parent involvement. It would not be good to allow someone else to be handling and instructing her just yet. We need a good physical activity for her, because we are not very active here at home. What have others been doing with your toddlers?

My C was 2 when she came home. We did Mommy and Me gymnastics. She liked it and it really helped with her muscle tone and movement.

At 4.5, she takes dance and has done some soccer. She is going back to gymnastics and dance this fall.

Don't over do. Try one activity and see how it goes.

I know that folks like Kindermusik. C took it as part of her daycare.

What about story hours at the library or Barnes and Noble? Those are generally free too.

We just had our first "My Gym" class yesterday. It was wonderful. Lauren had a blast. In September she starts Baby Sign language class.

We brought Samantha home at 9 months and when she turned 1 I started a mommy and me music class. She loved it. But at about 16 months it was to slow for her and we moved on to a "gym" kind of class. It's once a week and parents included. Now at 2 years and 2 months old we are in the gym class and a mommy and me German class. (Everyone speaks German only!!!) Besides we go to the park at least 2x per week.

I just checked out a "transition" class that mommies get to go to and transition themselves out within the month. This is a 3 month session and gets the tots ready for preschool. I may try this class but then would drop the others. So many choices. I think a couple of hours or so with other kids teaches them so much. Good luck in your choices.

Busy Toddler

My little one is a bit over two. She takes Gigglebytes computer classes and loves it! She also does toddler gymnastics and is a nut for the pool and swimming. She also like to ride her little bike and has fun at the playground. She is a pretty active little tike.
