Awfully quiet, isn't it? When the technical changes were made to the forum a week or two back, I lost the ability to connect, and had to re-google to find the website. I thought the site was actually "down" and was waiting every day for it to come back up (before I finally smartened up...after a week or so- duh) Wondering if we lost a few folks who STILL can't find us...I can't be the only technologically challenged person!
Also think there are a lot of folks taking a "wait and see" stance til things start picking up in Russia. One person told me she was "fearful" of posting much because of the political situation in Russia and with her agency. (I do not agree that we should respond with silence...This forum exemplifies openess of communication. We just have to be thoughtful and respectful in what we post.) -Had the passing thought that there was an exodus to another forum, but without exception all the forums seem unusually quiet right now... One of you "old-timers" who have seen a summer or two here...Is this perhaps a seasonal thing?

No this is not how is was...I originally joined back in 2003...and it had been picking up on a regular basis. Could be the technical issues, could be that there are more forums out there now as opposed to 3 years ago or even one year ago, could be a summer slowdown or could be because of all the issues in Russia right now. My best guess is a combo of all...

It is quiet. I too have had people write me saying they are staying away from the forums. I think it's ashame that some of these agencies are putting fear in people, especially, the first time adopting parents. This is an excellent resource for people. I'm not afraid as this is our 6th, possibly 7th adoption. Any agency that makes you sign a contract saying you can't post on forums, is an agency I would stay away from. Had I had a way of discussing issues when my very first two kids came home, they would have been better for it. I could have known to intervene faster. Live and learn.
Don't stay away folks. I promise there will be no firing squad waiting for you b/c you asked a question. Don't be afraid to ask. You can not possibly learn about adoption if you don't ask. The only thing you are not allowed to do is to post IDENTIFYING information on your child. I hope this may put the fear behind some. Us "old-timers" love to chat and get advice on posisble issues. It's also very nice to update and see how wonderful (or not so wonderful at times) that the kids are doing. Gives others encouragement. It has helped me w/ many a situations that have come up. Sorry for the soapbox but I too miss hearing how people are doing. In addition, I can't find this site anymore either. I have to google it each and every time now. Fustrating. Hope everyone is well and enjoying their summer. Our kids start school in two weeks. All 5 will be in school. Then the homework...and I thought the dossier was bad--LOL. Take care,

Hi Stephanie.... I think you are absolutely right about why all is soooo quiet...
It is a shame, as they would be able to ask questions, and hopefully get some answers that would help them along the process, at the VERY least... encouragement!! Hopefully, they will trickle back.... Blessings.....................

Actually, that's not correct, on a purely numbers stand point. Our numbers go down every summer, between April and October - this year, they are actually up from last year - but still down from the winter. The process in Russia and the changes involved have resulted in fewer Russian posters - but overall, we're still growing on target and seeing the same daily averages that we expect to see during the summer months ![]()

I pop around other places here and things overall seem pretty normal.
I think the Russian forum is slow because people are scared to post anything and I think things are pretty slow right now. Remember - most judges vacation in August so it is pretty rare (but not unheard of) to get a court date in August. I have also been wondering how Russian adoption is going to be affected long term because of the issues the past 20 months. Are more people moving to "easier" countries? I am curious to see what the numbers are going to be this year. Any thoughts on this? Christina

BrandyH.... Anyway to notify people about the new url? (maybe through email?) Looks like I'm not the only one who thought the site was permanently "down"!

I use the bookmark method also. I think another reason for the slowdown is I've been home for 16 months and life just gets busy. I do read every other day or so I just don't post as often. With Russia so slow right now I know alot of questions for those waiting are on the back burner. Rest assured that when you have a question we oldtimers will be there to answer.

Hi All! I am still here! I log in every day and read through all the new posts. I just don't have anything to say (yet). We're still waiting and all I do is soak up information from others.
Can you tell that in a group of people, I am usually just the "listener".
