asking employer to provide adoption benefits

Hi all
me and co-worker have been/will be adopting. Our employer currently does not offer adoption benefits. A loooong time ago I saw a sample letter (not sure where - I think it was in an adoption magazine) that can be used to submit a request to HR to consider and implement such a benefit. Does anybody have a sample letter or some good paragraphs I can put in my letter? Thanks Steff

If you google the Dave Thomas Foundation (the Wendy's founder) he started an organization that is all adoption related. There is a whole packet that addresses how to approach your employer. If I remember correctly there was a sample letter as well.
I hope this helps!

I'm glad you posted this. When we started this process three years ago, I was told by someone in my HR department that we do have an adoption benefits - $5000. Well, now that we are almost done (finally) they tell me that they don't know what I am talking about... URGH!!!!

The Dave Thomas Foundation packette is awesome. It is a CD and great info you can send right to your company. I used it althought it did not change things I felt better.
