It sounds like soooo much fun. I talked with my wife about it thought and she is worried about my motion sickness. Also, we have a lonnnnnnnnng way to go toward the healing of our daughter. So I think we'll be sitting out this year. But I hope we can do something else again in the years that follow, perhaps some of it on land. I'll be there with you in spirit!
Mike

Mike...I get HORRIBLE motion sickness (REALLY BAD). My doctor prescribes a patch that I wear behind my ear (I can pm anyone with the brand name). It lasts for three days (even through a shower/swimming) and works like a charm. At the end of three days, you take it off and switch to a new one. I was so afraid of cruising at first...I started to feel sick while the ship was DOCKED, we hadn't even left yet...put the patch on and even in choppy/rough open ocean I was perfectly fine. It's wonderful! That was four cruises ago and the last one was two weeks long and I was good the whole time. There are ways around the seasickness :-)

The healing of your daughter is another issue entirely though.

FYI it was manufactured backordered for a LONG time and currently has been hard to keep on the shelf because of sporadic manufacture availability....so if you are thinking about using them in the near future start trying to get them now ... could be a pain if you wait til the last minute....but they are WAY better than OTC options.

That is very good to know about, thank you so much. I was not aware it was available. The OTC stuff just doesn't cut it for me, so perhaps this would be better. I think I'd rather cut my teeth on a shorter cruise though. I'm sitting here at my computer already seasick from thinking about it. Sad isn't it?

And yes, the other aspect is our daughter and what the future holds for her and her RADish behaviors. At this point, I'm willing to defer to the following year. We didn't even take a big vacation this year, and as my wife and I discussed this last night, it was absolutely the best decision we could have made.

Thanks for the heads up on that patch. Mike

Mike, just an FYI, my DH has a really big problem with motion sickness and the patch has worked very successfully for him on cruises. We have been on all different length cruises and he has never had a problem on any of them. Three days of wearing the patch and you would never know he had any problems. He also uses the patch for long international flights and long car rides , like I said its really bad with him. A 5-day cruise is a relatively short cruise and as this particular one is more than 13 months away you would have plenty of time to get the patch from your doctor if you wanted it. Good luck and I feel for you.

Oh Mike...can you see how many people want you to come??? Everyone loves MIKEINTEXAS!! Just wanted to make sure...you know it is for 2007 right? Just wanted to make sure..but we all understand..you need to do what is best for your family.
Let's hope that Julia continues to heal and it a healthy, happy child very soon!!

As for the "count us in" post....my DH posted that!! I was surprised...we talked about it last night, but I didn't know he had completely agreed to it...YIPPEE!

He may have asked in the PM, do we get a choice of rooms? I also have the motion sickness problems, especially when the room is on the front/back or very high up...we could pay some more for an upgraded cabin if we need to!

This will be sooo fun! Kretzlan thanks for bringing it up again!!!!

Wha??? Why would you worry about that? Just kidding...my fear if we ever went on a cruise is Alex either pushing someone overboard in a fit of anger or defying me and jumping! That and there is no escape on a cruise ship with an AD/RAD kiddo.

I so understand your fears. Heck going to Target can be cause for a meltdown around here... Us land lovers are also talking about a Disney trip sometime next year as well. DH has an inner ear problem (as well as balance issues) so he gets awful seasickness as well.

Yes, precisely. My precious little RADish has some pretty serious issues right now. With my luck, she'd jump overboard and then claim it was an accident or that someone pushed her over...all just to get an emotional reaction out of me.

I am persuaded on the patch though... thanks to all of you for writing about that! I'd love to go...we'll see.

Have a great time. We won't be able to attend. Too close to the beginning of school and plus I am to return to work the day after labor day. My FMLA is over then .

Hopefully the Disney trip will work out for us.

We're quickly approaching the 70 person mark for the Celebrate Adoption Cruise. There's still time to sign up, though. Please PM me or send me an email at kizibits6@bellsouth.net if you might be interested.
