Home and finally have PICTURES!
Hey everyone!
I finally grabbed some time for an update and pix of my little SUMMER! We have settled in wonderfully and have seen this little amazing human, transform from a quiet,shy,scared little girl, into a wickedly funny, outgoing, & super intelligent life of the party! We experienced some textbook behaviors, rocking when upset,disassocitating when overwhelmed (zoning out and in a trance like state)and a heartbreaking fear of the family's cats & dog! She now speaks staggering amounts of English (A Dr. spoke to her in Russian, and ever since that day, she flatly REFUSED to speak ANYTHING unless it was in English.) Sad really, you can see her brain on over drive as she points and soaks up every word you teach her. She says "HOLY COW!" when excited, "COOL BEANS" when amused and rattles on in complete sentences! The funniest thing she has done, is becoming FASCINATED with..... BUGS!!! she saw a bright orange shirt (across the store!) and now tells everyone her name is Summer Bug! I caugt her sneaking cheese out of the fridge. Amused, I asked " What are you doing???" she replied with a sheepish grin, " I'm a CHEESE BUG!!!" Our whole family has just grown closer because of her. Our bio sons are 13 & 10 yrs and dote on her.Even dad has become the biggest pushover! When we were unexpectedly busted by dad (in the process of sneaking in a stray kitten,) we shoved it in Summer's arms and whispered in her ear.(she repeats anything you say!) She walked up to her big daddy and said CAN WE KEEP HIM? dad melted and now we have a new family member! I could go on & on but wanted to give everyone an update. So many of you have called, sent gifts and emailed that I was feeling guilty! I finally got some time to shoot her so here goes!! All I can say is HOLD ON GUYS! she is BEYOND the desire of my heart! this is her wearing one of my shirts ( apparently every 3 yr old yearns for a little black dress!!) she loves to accessorize and is so girly!

we just got back from shooting on the beach on St George island
She loved the sand and birds and water!

she went from a desolate orphanage, to playing on the beach with her new family. It is truly surreal.

We originally set out to adopt a much older child. But one of the SIGNS that she was meant to be ours, was the fact that she and her big brother Gray share the same birthday, 10 yrs apart!!

ever since our first visit, she has ALWAYS had a baby in her arms! This poor doll has already lived a full life!

It absolutely tears me up when I see these two together.

This was one of my favorite images. A client had me out with her daughter the ballerina, when Summer walked up and plopped herself down in the middle of the shoot! I call it a glimpse of the future!

Rainy, it's good to see you on the boards!
the pictures are beautiful!! All of them. I love the stories. Summer bug--how cute is that! You endured #!@* to bring this sweet girl home, I'm so happy that she has melted in to your hearts, life and family.

Two boys (5 and 7) Feb 05 to Aug 06 unsuccessful in Russia August 06, changing countries (paperchasing) Oct 06 dossier sent to agency Nov 06 dossier made it through the Embassy, now it's on its way to Kaz!! Dec 06 dossier at the first Ministry (MFA) Jan 06 dossier now at second Ministry (MOE) One more to go.....that's the regional one Still hoping for LOI (letter of invitation) in Jan Jan 31---dossier still at MOE, no LOI in Jan  Feb 16--We know our region--Karaganda Kaz. Last step in the process--wait for LOI March 15 07--received LOI Left for Kaz March 21 Paperwork glitch but decided to stay while it was handled (hence the long time between leaving for trip and court) Court May22, 2007

Oh Rainy! I'm just crying reading and looking at these beautiful pictures of Summer and your family!! We've all missed you so much, and we are so glad that Summer and everyone is adjusting so well.
