Two countries at once

I have another question.........

has anyone ever had their paperwork and INS approval with two countries at the same time?

For instance Kazakhstan and Russia?

IF so I'd love to hear your experiences. Thanks.

HI Lovestruck

Sorry but I cannot help you there. We had switched countries in process, but our dossier was either in Armenia or in Russia, not both. I hope someone on the list can give you some enlightenment.

both

I am currently doing this. The best thing to do is to get and INS for both countries. All you have to do for Kaz homestudy is to change country and add a couple of sentences. Your homestudy worker should know what to do. When your INS and FBI are back you can quickly acquire the other documents.

Alot of countries are no longer letter you be registered in one place. What we are doing is finishing w/ Russia 1st yet have approval for two. As soon as we touch ground, we do the I-864 form ($200, I think) that changes your approval status for another country. As soon as we get our daughter to be home, that is what we will be doing while at the same time doing preliminary paperwork right now. HOpe that makes sense. But alot of countries, including Russia, will not let you show approval for 2 countries at once. Good luck and let me know if it is any different now.

Take care,

I was doing this for a while. First off you have to be approved for 2 or more children. Then you have to apply twice to the INS, which meant doing the paperwork twice and paying twice.

My Kaz adoption fell through so we just kept plugging away with Russia.

I know someone who did a simultaneous Guatemala and China adoption.

We are adopting from Liberia and Guatemala at the same time. What INS told us was that we needed a homestudy that approved us for both countries and for two children. We had to apply for INS (and pay the fees) twice. Otherwise, the two adoptions don't have much to do with each other.

We had our dossier in two countries- Russia and Georgia. We did not do 2 INS approvals. We had our INS say Russia and if we got a referral from Georgia first, we were then going to change that with the INS. Our agency didnt tell us that we would have to pay the full fees again, they made it sound like we would just change our initial application with them.

Good luck- what 2 countries are you thinking about?

Provost21,

We are considering adding Kaz. We have been in the Russia program for 16 months now and like many people are stuck due to reaccred. Of course we are hoping and praying that reaccreditation will not take a long time, but just to be on the safe side we have decided to explore addiding Kaz and proceed in both countries simultaneously if possible. If things move forward in Russia like expected then we will stay with Russia. But in the event things go ary then we feel like this could be a good plan.

To everyone, once again thanks for you input and for the pm's. I got just the information I was looking for. I knew I could count on you guys!
