Roadblock
Okay, just posted today on the whole post-placement issue. I've written it up and will be sending it tomorrow. Next order of business is now the judge in region will be taking vacation the entire month of July and August. Meaning, no court dates until September.
Dilema...do I wait for first trip until September or try to do mad dash dossier this week and get first trip in June before everyone is gone. Either way, there is no possibility of court until September (at the earliest, depending upon backlog). I know this is how the process goes but this child needs to come home. (sorry can't provide details on here). Thanks again in advance for any opinions. I'd hate the long wait between trips, I think. Don't know. All other 5 have been one trip deals. This is our first two trip model ever! Never a dull moment. Take care.

Basically, if you go in June, you save yourself a month's processing time. Least amt of time I have seen the release letter take is 3 weeks and it cannot be requested until you have taken trip1 and signed to accept the child. Release letters have historically taken way longer than 3 weeks so this would allow you plenty of time to get it and get on the judge's schedule immediately upon his return.
The downside of taking Trip 1 in June will be the expense as I think airfares are pretty pricey now and also it's terrible and in my opinion gut wrenching to wait to go back after holding your child and loving them on trip 1. Was I much help? I don't know, but if you need to get the child home right away, I'd take trip 1 now so you can gain a month's processing time.

We did trip 1 end of June and trip #2 end of September. It was about 11 weeks. The wait is brutal but it does give you time to update any paperwork, fingerprints, INS, etc. and shop for the little one.

I did trip 1 in june and trip 2 in december. It was exactly 5 months in between trips. Its hard, really hard but you can do it!! I'd go on Trip 1 as soon as possible and get the ball well and truly rolling. Good Luck.

I think the wait will be brutal no matter when you take trip #1, so do it now so you can get on the docket for September.

If you can get the dossier done and go in June, I say go in June. You'll be that much closer to finalizing things. If you go in Sept. you never know when court will be--it could be a short wait between trips or you could still wait months. Good luck.

Either way I think it will be emotionally wrenching for you. Go now. Get things moving over there. I get the impression she has medical issues that need to be attended to. I'm sorry they can't make an exception in this girl's case and let her come home on trip #1.
