We just recently signed the boys up for a new center. At our old center (which we pulled them out of-Dennis started there when he was 18 months, but they were not equipped or happy to deal with Tommy's special needs), it cost $6.25 and hour to have both boys there. They were there about 12-15 hours a week.

At the new one-well, it's going to be a struggle. Tommy, for 2 days, 5 hours a day, will cost $120 a week. Dennis will go 2 days a week and be bussed to Kindergarten from there. They have a flat rate for that of $55 dollars a week. He'll be there for a total of 3-4 hours a week!!

Luckily, my MIL watches the boys the other 3 mornings, and dh works at night so he's home at noon. I don't know if we could afford full-time care at this new place....

Dropping in from the Guat. board, we pay $120 for 2 days a week, I can't imagine if we had to pay for full-time, yikes!

We are full time, 8 hours/5 days per week and we pay $140 (for 2 yr old), it is pretty cheap, but that is because it is at my church and the church does not charge them rent or any facilities fees. Also you get $5 a week discount if you are a church member. You provide lunch (breakfast if child goes early) and they provide snacks. I work summer hours, so only 4 days per week now, so we pay by the day which is $31.
I know co-workers for full time care for 2 yr old pay close to 200 per week!
So I consider us lucky.

The licenced daycare my dd attended aged 3 - 5 years charges $ 375.00 per month for fulltime care (9 hours/day, 5 days/week). Rate decreases for school age. Now dd attends a home daycare, across the street from her school, $12/day for for about 4 hours of care per day, $25/day when school is out. These rates are pretty much standard for where we live.

Looks like some of you pay substantially more!

When both kids were full time...(with hot lunches which add $12.50 per week, per child...)

Pre-K/FT ~ $167.50 with lunches
Toddlers ~ $182.50 with lunches

So...$350.00 per week...for the 50 weeks per year we had to pay to keep their spots open plus $200 annual registration fee...for at grand total of $17,700 after tax dollars per year...and I had to fight DH to stay home hmmm?! But their school was worth every penny!

Interesting to see the differences...and the switch from FT to PT only saves us about $30 per week per kiddo...and we got a multi-child discount too...woohoo!

Wow.. I think we pay the most. We pay $249 a week (was $271 a week before he turned 3!) for FT daycare which includes small breakfast, lunch & snacks. He is there from 7:45 - 5:45 5 days a week in New Jersey.

Don't know if this counts or not, but I voted other - Grandma watches him a couple of days a week for free. We LOVE her!

The daycare, for the baby, is $25/day, no matter how many hours, up to 12/day. For the potty-trained kids it's only $20/day. Since we pay our bills on-time, up-front, and sometimes in advance for the month, they have been VERY accomodating about letting us do part-weeks, switch days, extra days, etc.

My older son is now in a montessori preschool/elementary school, and the tuition is $535/month, four days a week (my choice not to do 5), no matter if he misses a day or not. yucky. Still, he is excelling so much in it, I can't complain. It's worth the extra money and daily drives to see him learning so much.

I pay $130/wk for my younger son; full-time (5 days/wk), they are open 6:30 to 6:00 and includes b-fast, lunch and snack. During summer my older son goes there and we get a 10% discount for his care. We get one week of vacation per year we don't have to pay for; otherwise pay whether were there or not.

There is a one time activity fee per year which covers two field trips per week for school age ($45 for summer) and about one field trip per month for pre-school age ($20). The teachers get a budget and figure out what they can do for the $.

Like the poster above, it is a church program so the cost is low. It is not our church, tho. Also, I know they get subsidized meal money for low income families, which keeps the cost low for everyone.

During school for the older one, school has an after school program for $3.50/hr.; we only pay for what we use.

how is your childcare so cheap?

Boy, I am shocked at how cheap all your child care is, maybe I am misreading? Childcare in NY for full time Nanny is bet $400- $500 a week. Anyone else have child care in New York?
