Which hotel out of these 4?
We're going on trip #1 in a couple of weeks, and would love some hotel recs.
Which hotel do you think is best for trip 1 and trip 2? My choices are: Marriott Royal Marriott Tverskaya Marriott Grand Renaissance Moscow Hotel Thanks! |

The Grand is very nice and had the best location- you can walk to Red Square. It can be more expensive, though. When booking make sure you give the code for the Marriott adoption discount - it's A23. Good luck!

Marriott Tverskaya gets my vote. More reasonably priced than the Grand and has a great lounge for families.

I stayed at the Renaissance one night. It was ok, but I didn't care for the location. It was so far from everything. I have no experience with the others, we stayed at the Radisson.

We stayed at the Grand on trip 2 - it was a great place with the kids...nice pool and easy walking access to everything. But, can be quite expensive!

These are all Marriott properties (always my choice when I have a choice) and are nice. You should also add the new Marriott Courtyard Moscow (close to Red Square) to your list--it's reportedly very, very nice. If you book online, use code A23 to get the adoption rates.
We stayed at the Grand in November and it was fabulous, keeping in mind that food is better sourced at local restaurants, rather than in the hotel due to costs. The pool at the Grand is very nice, too. The downside is that Internet access is very expensive. The Tverskya has an advantage in that respect as I believe they have a free Internet access station for adoptive parents.

Hi Sandy....
I personally can only vaulch for the Renaissance Moscow Hotel. I LOVED it there. I stayed there for BOTH of my trips, and was extremely comfortable there. I traveled alone, so feeling comfortable and secure was a BIGGY for me. A great Business center available 24 hrs. a day (if you need access after hours, just ask the front desk, and they will open the door for you, and just ask you to close it after you are done! I spent alot of time in there around 3 & 4AM each day...) ALSO, you pay for an hour at a time for the internet, and if you sign on, and use 10 minutes.... when you sign off, you still have 50 minutes left, etc. Restaurants where good, and the breakfast buffet was delicious!!! Though alittle costly, I never had a chance to each a real lunch, so I splurged on a good - big Breakfast!!!! Congrats on making plans!!!!

We stayed at the Grand both trips. We were very happy there. The rooms were spacious with large marble bathrooms, the service was excellent, it was very child friendly and the location was perfect.

We loved the Grand! Nice location, great staff who were wonderful to our daughters, and made us feel like we were at home.

The Marriott Royal (aka Aurora) is a very short and easy 5 minute walk to Red Square...it is the closest by far of the Marriott's unless the Courtyard is closer...the Royal is just behind the ballet (Bolshoi...sp?) We stayed at all but the Grand....preferred the Tverskya...but it was booked.
The Royal is the 'top' of their hotels in Moscow...and is priced accordingly. We stayed there for Alex's 2 trips (except for one nite at the Ren...no comment other than we we not thrilled with the Ren.) and they are more than accomodating....butler service 24/7 for anything. If you have reward points like we did...it was great. They really did anything we asked...even got a stroller from the Grand sent down for us to use...warmed Alex's bottles...and the rooms were about as big as the suites at the Tverskya...

We stayed at the Tverskaya and enjoyed our stay during both trips of our first adoption. It was reasonably priced and we found the rooms to be nice and comfortable. It is farther from Red Square than the Grand, but still within walking distance. We got the baby suite once we had our daughter and it was nice to have the additional space.
We also stayed at the Courtyard during our last trip. I would not necessarily put this at the top of my list. The hotel was not bad, but it did not have free internet access like the Tverskaya and we thought the beds were very uncomfortable. Just depends on what you are looking for. It could have also been the beds in our room...who knows! Best of luck! |

We stayed at the Ren. for our 1st trip during our son's adoption. I would not stay there again. The hotel is very nice, but it is VERY far from the city, and it cost us a pretty penny to take a cab to and from the city. Thers is a metro station right in front of the hotel, but neither my DH nor I were brave enough to try that on our own. I will say that the breakfast was very good, but the restaurant for dinner was VERY expensive.. and you are fairly captive based upon the distance.
We stayed at the Tverskaya the remainder of our trips (son's 2nd trip, and daughter's trips), and loved it. Nice hotel, great staff, very easy to navigate and the 4th floor lounge is an awesome place to see other families. We, too, got the baby suite for our daughter's 2nd trip, and really liked it.. lots of extra room and all of the baby equipment is provided. We were considering the Grand on our daughter's trip, but our coordinator wanted all of the families at the Tverskaya for easy driving. Plus, I think the Grand was booked.

We stayed at the courtyard a few weeks ago and it was nice. It was worth it just for the breakfast! It was 10 minutes from Red Square and you did have to pay for internet access but it wasn't too expensive. Make sure when you book it you ask for the adoption rate. That rate includes breakfast.

Oh, I forgot to mention that around the corner from the courtyard was an international store where you could get all kinds of things. Water, snacks, even American cough drops.... I had a bad cough from all the cigarette smoke in our region. Also at the courtyard they have entire non smoking floors!

We have stayed at all except the Royal. The Grande is nicest and I loved that it was so close to Red Square. The Tverskya was nice--the best part was the 4th floor lounge were many adoptive families would hang out and it had free internet service (lounge area only). The Renassaince was fine, too, but like people said it is far from downtown; however, they do offer free shuttle service to many of the tourist spots.
