Chernobyl anniversary

I just saw a story on The Early Show about the anniversary of Chernobyl. A young lady saw an HBO story on the children of Chernobyl and ended up going to an orphanage there and working with the kids. She's a pediatric physical therapist and all the kids have some sort of serious issues due to Chernobyl. She's gone to work with the kids twice now and plans to go back in the summer. It's just sad that they have no one and have a tough road ahead.

Just thought some might find this interesting. You can probably find more about this on the Early shows website.

There is also an article on her, the group and the orphanage in last week's People, the pictures were heartbreaking to me.

When I was working in oncology years ago, we actually had around 20 patients (brought over by family members, with varying diagnoses of leukemia and such, who all lived close to Chernobyl).

It's so sad, the effects that Chernobyl has had on the people and especially the children.
