Mc Donald's tastes better in Russia?

Many moons ago, several travelling families noticed that the Mc Donald's tasted better over in Russia. Question was: did it really taste BETTER, or were we just so glad to have a bite of 'home"? Well, there is an article today on MSN that compares the trans-fat contents of Mc Donalds and KFC in various countries and cities. Guess what:
Mc Donalds fries in US have 23 grams of Trans-fats, and Russian fries only 10g! Us Chicken Mc Nuggets have 11g trans-fats, and Russian nuggets only 8g!

So, there really is a difference and it looks like our bodies prefer healthier fries!

It's SOO true .. the McDonald's I had over there DID taste SO good!! I thought it was just because I did not like the food in Kemerovo .. Nice to know I was at least eating healthier!

Funny to read this! We didn't eat at McDonald's in Moscow (after getting my husband to try a Stardog there was no getting him into any other fast food!)

I did live in Austria for a year in college. When I needed a trip from home I would go get chicken nuggets from McDonald's. They were so good and nothing like the nuggets here. I think my family back home thought I was crazy or just home sick. Thanks for the proof!

It's funny that you mention this, I had gotten so hungry for something greasy and bad for me while in Russia. I order chicken nuggest and fries from McD's and immediately knew that they were not greasy at all. Now I know why.

Thanks for posting this.

So funny that you mention this! I am not crazy about McDonald's at all, but in Russia we decided to get mcnuggets and fries to see how they tasted. They were great, I thought they were way less greasy. Good to see it wasn't all in my mind! Too bad they couldn't make them that way over in the US.

England Big Tasty!

We went to England two years ago. I could NOT believe the size of McD's Big Tasty--as big as a BK Whopper! It was wonderful; I was stuffed. Sure wish they made them like that in the US!

The chicken nuggest are definately different in Moscow then in the USA. They aren't as thick and are less gressy. Even the breading seemed different. It was darker in Moscow.

I'd trade that BIG MAC (US or Russian style) for a big bowl or borscht or sha-shleek any day.

I don't recall it tasting better, but they did charge .25 cents for each ketchup in Rsotov-On-Don!

McDonalds in Russia

I enjoyed my trips to McDonalds in Russia too! We ate at one in St. Petersburg and in Moscow. It was nice to have a taste of home during that stressful time. They charged us for the ketchup packets too!

I thought that funniest thing was the workers cleaned your table when you finished, a little different than here in the U.S.

I brought home a placemat from McDonalds in Russia as a souvenir.

McDonalds

I guess I'm the minority in that I did not really care for the food, otherthan the fries. I like Grilled Chicken though and they did not offer that.

McDonalds Moscow is the only food we found our son will not eat. He is an excellant eater. Since home I've found nothing he won't eat.

McDonalds was celebrating a milestone birthday while we were there. Our son was something like the 30,000 customer and won a t-shirt which was really nice souvenir.

I can tell you, I definately preferred McD's in Russia (Moscow) then here! I was not one to try alot of the Russian Cusine, so I stuck with pastas, etc., but McD's was delicious. Cool to hear that it was even good for me

I sure thought it tasted better. We were going for something greasy and I actually took the bun off to look at the burger. They patted it after they took it off the grill!! My stomach was upset for DAYS after returning to the states!! Too much grease in the food over here I guess.
