Umbrela or ponchos in Russia?

HI guys!!
WE are soo excited that we are leaving TOMORROW!! But we see that there is going to be a lot of rain on our trp, o we were wondering...would it be smarter/easier to take a compact umbrella or poncho? My coat is black think wool but I don't thing it is will hold up in rain.
Thanks!!!!!!
Amy

Don't laugh, but I took both even though my DH & I packed as light/small as possible. My husband & I each took a very small compact umbrella as well as plastic ponchos that folded down to nothing (couple sq inches at max.) We were adopting 2 babies and I wanted to make sure we could keep them dry -- keeping us dry was an extra bonus, heh, heh.

You can usually find very small umbrellas and tiny fold-down plastic ponchos at both the Bulleye store and the yellow smiley face store (don't think I'm allowed to list names, but that should give them away. )

Best of luck and have a wonderful trip.

I know at both Marriott's (Tverskaya and Grand) they had umbrellas behind the desk for guests to use, we did also pack our rain gear (jackets).

Congrats on your travel plans

I actually had a coat with a hood, and did also take a compact umbrella... Didn't take up hardly any room. When I was there it rained some and snowed some. I actually used it in both types of weather!!!!

I would say an umbrella. They make them small enough now to fit in your purse

Congratulations and have a safe trip!

We brought a small umbrella for each of US and we used them! I didn't see anyone wearing ponchos in Moscow when it was raining.

LOL!!! Whoa, boy....it must have been a long day. (wink) When I read this subject my mind made it "Umbrella or pooches in Russia."

I thought "AmySue, and umbrella is a good idea but I don't think you should take your dog." LOL!

Anyway -- We were in Russia last August and September. It rained several days. I saw many people with umbrellas (mostly black) but did not see anyone in a poncho. I'd choose the umbrella.

Hi, amysue!

Where are you headed in Russia? (I don't know where Izhevsk is...)It's been very windy here. Rather than deal with inside-out umbrellas most people are just getting wet!!

I guess it just depends on if you want your hands free.

Have a SUPER trip!
Kate
