My little guy Alex is 22mons he did not qualify from back in Jan but I wil get him retested in April.
Ian his brother who just turned three this week is getting into a progrm with the school, EI basically pushed it off since he was going to be three and age out.
Both boys seems to need the SP and OT and also social emotinal , not sure where that falls into.
They are from Kemerovo-Novokuznetsk baby home #2.

As soon as I got home with my daughter Anna, I had the pediatrician give me a referral for her to be evaluated for EI. I strongly believe every child that is adopted internationally, should have that evaluation. Anna received OT, PT, and speech

Ashton Beauregard has PT, ST, OT each once per week an and DT once per month. He was significantly behind in each catagory when we arrived home, but he's made tremendous progress, especially in PT and OT. Too much in OT. We went to a fenced in play area in a mall this morning. AB reached up and opened the gate and escaped.
I highly encourage everyone to have their child evaluated as soon as you can after arriving home. If the evaluators suggest EI therapy, start as soon as you can. And after the a therapy session is over, contine reinforcing the excercies your child used in the previous session until the next session.

Ia

We had follow up with IA doctor and they ran a bunch of labwork and brought in all the therapist for evaluation. We were given take home instructions but did not need formal therapy. Because this was our first child we had no idea if the need was there or not. We were able to work at home and get our child on track with their guidance.

Ava was tested and qualified for speech. We started a month ago. They put her at 6+ mos delay. I figured it was 9 mos. At the time she only said 5 words and they were the family names. Now, one month later she has 33 words she knows and uses about 10. She was not indicating wants or needs with words or gestures, just crying. Now she can ask, "w'sat?" (What's that?) snack, baba, more, and of course DH's favorites, Touch Down and Minnie (big Vikings fan!)

My son was tested two months after coming home. He qualified for speech (15 month speech ability at 25 months). We knew it was because of the need for more exposure to English, but wanted all the help we could get. He is starting to say a few words now, but still quite behind. I am hoping he starts talking more REALLY SOON so that he can stop grunting and crying so much out of frustration.

All 3 of my children were tested by EI within 2 months of them being home. Our oldest son adopted at 21 months qualified, transitioned into the pre-school handicaped program, and is now in 1st grade and has an IEP and continues with Speech, OT and Resource support. Our 2nd child adopted at 12 months was evaluated 2x's her delays were just not in the spectrum for EI to qualify her, although she rec'd outpatient care from a local Children's Hospital. She is 4.5 in a regular pre-school and doing wonderful. Our 3rd, adopted at 10 months was a preemie. He qualified at 12 months for EI and is 2.5, he still gets OT, Speech and DI. He will be testing for the pre-school program.
DID EI make a differance? I don't know. I do know that they provided me with may ideas and ways to help our children to make progress with their delays.
I can say the programs in our state NJ, are wonderful IF you are proactive and you know the law. Believe me the counties and the local school districts WILL try to get by on the least amount of time/effort as possible. Even getting EI services you as a parent HAVE to know what your child is capable of you have to be the one to set his/her goals and have EI stick to them. If not, EI will NOT work. Also you have to believe in your child and you EI providers, if it isn't a good match then make it known.
