Favorite expensive toy?

If you had some people asking you what your 13 month old boy would like that is worth some bucks, what would you say?

Thanks for any ideas.. I'm drawing a blank.

Hmmm....well, in only a few short years, he'll be asking for a girlfriend. That will cost a bit! Or maybe not "asking", but you know what I mean!

Seriously, something like a play-gym in the yard would qualify. I'm not sure other expensive toys are really worth it as the "go out of style" quickly and sometimes are not taken care off.

I would definately say a swing set. My son had one and we used it all the time. Step 2 has a great one that has a little house under it. It is small and unassuming.

I agree with JIM an outdoor playset would be great if you have the yard. Rainbow makes the biggest and extremely expensive but you can find great ones for cheaper..... I also like the idea of an art easel or desk. While not extremely expensive if they get all that goes with it and get it in wood like from potery barn it could be pricey just make sure it can 'grow with him.

GOod luck finding and choosing what a great thing to have to decide....

My dad built Henry a swing set in the backyard when he was about 17 months. I had been given an infant swing as a gift at my shower, and then spent a couple hundred dollars to have a swingset built to hang it from. How goofy is that. I figured it was an investment that Henry would get enjoyment out of for quite some time.

I can't really think of anything expensive that Henry had before he was 2. Really, his favorite toy was the big cardboard box that the new TV came in. He could play with that for hours and it's still in the playroom a year later.

Now that he's a little older, a couple of toys that I feel required a little bit of 'investment' is his Peg Perego ride-on train. He doesn't play with it often, but when he does, he really enjoys it.

The other thing that I have no regrets spending a little bit of money on is his train table (see a train theme here?). He plays with this every day (time permitting) and we enjoy adding new configurations and new trains to it, on occasion. Each time he plays with it, he seems to have a little bit different of a focus or way that he plays. So it's like every day, it's a new toy to him.

I agree -- the swingset is a must have. These kids love to swing - and should.

Other stuff- I love the neurosmith toys and anything leapfrog.

When Rylie was 2 we got him the battery powered Jeep - it was the best investment. He would take it on walks - around our yard...our neighbor has one and all three of my kids STILL play with it!

play gym

scnooks

a play set (like rainbow systems) is a must. my 2 kids, ages almost and 3 love it, and it takes out alot of their energy. we actually bought ours at Costco, they have it on display. it is affiliated w/ rainbow systems but much cheaper. everyone's definition of expensive is different, this play set is $1100-1200.

Others have said it...but our big expensive toy was the wooden swingset/slide last year. My step-dad built it from a kit and my inlaws went in half to help pay for it. My stepdad did all the work and it was a little over $400 total.

Last xmas, Santa brought a train table with trundle drawers and wooden train set....that was expensive, too.

I would say Alex's favorite expensive toy is a tie between his power wheels quad and his bicycle.

Depends on what you mean by expensive $100, $500, $1000 or more...and at 13 months...sort of limited. Hmmm....let me think...

I agree with the swing and ride on toys. Katrina loves those, but she also loves her play house outside. They vary from 100-500. She can amuse herself in that for a long time.
