Early Intervention visit...

Well, we just completed our early intervention eval and it was so wonderful to talk with the screeners. They are so insightful. We are going to do a couple months of speech therapy once a week for an hour and see how quickly we can improve Griffins speech. All other areas, as we knew, were great. Having a Special Ed background in teaching, I was pretty confident in a diagnosis of a speech delay. Wee are on our way to better speaking (well, more than just ahhhh!!) Wish us luck I hope it flies by! Early Intervention is soooo worth it. Firm believer here.

Great news! That's really good to hear, and I'm sure a relief to you. Just feels better when you have a plan, as well as another set of ears and eyes that you respect to help you work effectively with your child; that can help tremendously. Hope it continues to go well.

Debi,
That is great news!! I do have a question for you - how long did you wait to get an evaluation. We have only been home less than 2 weeks, but I know my just turned 3 year old is going to need some help - the pediatrician says to wait until he knows more english, but I don't want to wait too long.

Glad to hear you got the eval!

Carol - we went about a month after being home - by then if Aisling wasn't doing something they asked I at least knew enough to tell them if she could or not. You might want to at least schedule it now though...
Yay for you!

We had the same experience and are very pleased. And finally, I don't have to pay for it for a while. Therapy has been going well too. Don''t give up on it.
