Booking hotels in Moscow-URGENT
Hitting lots of dead ends. We found a couple of online places to book but know nothing about them. Has anyone used Moscow-Hotels website to book a room? Any ohter places. I tried one recommended but they had nothing available--I know others get blocks of rooms. Moscow-Hotels has what we need but we are nervous since we know nothing about them.
Just want to make sure we are using a reputable online service and not some fly by night place. Any help would be appreciated. Lots of changes have been made in the last 24hours and we are scrambling. Thanks. Karen

Depending on what day you want, the Marriotts all seem to have availability for March 15th. I didn't know what other days you needed, so couldn't check full availability. The adoption rate code for Marriott is A23. They may or may not have rooms available at the adoption rate. All of them are very nice.

We also booked directly through a travel agent - but I would suggest the actual hotel website as well!

We want to stay at the Ukraina and they don't seem to have a website. I was trying to find their phone number so I can just call but I can't find it. We tried a couple of agencies but they said they could not get back to us until Monday morning and well--we need to take our son to his godparents Tuesday afternooon (where he is staying while we are gone) and that is cutting it a little too close if they say they could not book the rooms.
This is just soooooo much fun!! I'm thinking about calling our facilitator and forgetting there is a 12 hour time difference ![]()

There is a website where you can book for the Ukrainia online. I'll PM it to you - however I put in your dates and did not find availability...but check it out...I'll PM now.

What about calling Andrei at Peace Travel on Sunday night your time, Monday am Russia time and see what he can get you. I have only heard great things about him. I doubt you will be able to sleep Sunday night anyway!

Try Maxima Hotels in Moscow. They have two hotels on the same block. Internet cafe, bank to change money, nice little restaurant, and only 5-10 minutes from the Metro. Rooms w/breakfast go for $130-140/night. They will take an on-line booking.
Not in downtown - but not very far Google Maxima Hotels. Also - you can book an apartment from Moscow Rick. Google him too - or email him at rick@enjoymoscow.com He had nice apartment units @ $130 -150 night |

Did you try the Holiday Inn in Moscow? It's brand new and not far from the embassy etc. Kind of expensive though.

Suggestions
I booked through Red Star Travel in Seattle and they were very dependable.
Also, you can stay at the Holiday Inn Vinogradovo, which is in a suburb of Moscow. It's a really nice hotel, and they have a free shuttle that goes into town many many times a day. I liked the Ukraina best of all the hotels where I stayed. It's not expensive, great buffet in one of the restaurants, close to all, big rooms. I'll keep y'all in my prayers. Dee

Thanks everyone-I think we finally got it done. Now I am waiting for the Sibir in Novosibirsk to email back that they got the reservation request so we can fax out what they need. We did get a room at the Ukraine but might need to get there a day earlier than we could book. So I will take down the names of everything and take it with me in case we need a place for a night. Been a stressful day--it was beautiful out (in the 60s--which for Wisconsin is summer in March) and I was stuck at the computer. Time to get that laptop. I almost dragged my desktop out onto the deck
