Someone else on the frua website is keeping up a thread for constant updating of agency status. It is the best source so far that I have seen for determining the current status of any one agency. -Would recommend everyone in initial stages, or looking to switch agencies check it out if you've not yet seen it. There are also a lot of rumors on that site, but I like to keep up with those too, because there is sometimes a grain of truth to those rumors - just like the one in this thread!
(By the way, after reading that site, I see where Jim has been spending all his time ).

Sometimes even if we try to have the post placement reports completed on time, the homestudy agency does not do their job of preparing them quickly which is what to happened to us.
We had our six month interviews for our PPR's done in January, three months prior to the due date and I have had to call the homestudy agency for the past month and a half (nearly every other day) to get the reports to me. The reports finally arrived on Tuesday and now I have to send them to get apostilled quickly to get them to our agency by March. I am so angry and upset that the homestudy agency, knowing the due date, waited almost two months to complete the reports when they know darn well how difficult Russia is making things difficult for adoptive parents.

Take everything with a grain of salt from frua...especially from a few of the posters over there...involved in this thread...they are not known for having very factual input...to say the least. In fact, the one poster was 'called out' on her posts offering conflicting info.
But, regardless....always get those PPR's done! Bdaddy~ Congrats on the potential good news! Karen |

true for us
This absolutely happened to us in our first adoption from Kazan. The procedure goes something like - your final paperwork (those few pieces you do at the very end) is sent to the region, then from the region it's sent to Moscow for approval, then back to the region for a court date to be scheduled. In our first adoption, the region officials refused to send our paperwork to Moscow until they received past due ppreports. It was incredibly heartbreaking and made us crazy because there was nothing we could do!! With our second adoption, this issue came up again - and I was in the process of getting the names and phone numbers of the people behind schedule when they finally turned it in. (my agency was all for me calling them personally!) Unfortunately, it's just another thing that can drive you mad during this process...but all is forgotten upon arrival home!! Needless to say, we're very prompt with all our reports.

Our agency informed us this week that they are now requiring all consulate registries happen is Moscow after court. This will add about 3 days onto the trip. This is happening because the agency has had problems getting the reports in on time. I can see why this is happening: the agency has to get those reports in to enable future adoptions and to ensure their accreditation doens't get revoked. I see it as just one more hurdle, but not something that is unfair or out of the blue.

I agree.... though this would be an extra day or two, it is understandable. Actually, in January 2005, it was required by my agency that it be done before I left Moscow. I didn't have a problem with it. I thought of it as ONE LESS thing to do when I return with my DD and getting caught up in the whirlwind getting settled and adjusting. It was done simultaneously with some other stuff, and I only was delayed ONE day. At that point.... no big deal. I was sooooo glad it was done.

I would gladly do a post placement report EVERY WEEK if I could get my kids home. I will NEVER miss a report and be so thankful for the day I get to report on my children. I will never do anything to hinder all of the children in the orphanages from coming home.
