We are here.. and yes, the most recent abuse case is affecting adoptions..

We arrived in Vlad safe and sound the SHORT way! Yeah!

We found out when we got here that we all have to supply a letter from our docs confirming that they are qualified to evaluate in all 9 medical specialties.. as a reaction to the case in Maine mentioned here recently. That meant all of us being on the phone in the middle of the night in order to reach the docs. (3 couples here)

Thankfully the judge will accept a faxed copy for now.

But all should be well.. just some stricter questioning.

Our little guy looks great and still all smiles.

Talk to you later.

Schnooks

ps... pwnort and gcs.. your pics were very appreciated! And I heard some stories about Henry.. bossy Henry!

Lovely...

Sorry about the extra anxiety for you.-Not a good time for something like this to happen. Somewhere in that city, my child waits too... I had hoped Vlad. was enough "on the end of the earth" to be out of this particular loop... Guess "good" news travels fast. I am disappointed and nervous about your news. It's scary thinking they might change the rules in the middle of the game. I'd hate to have to plan a 3rd trip for medicals. Up until now, I have heard this has not been required in Vlad. If I could know up front that they are going in this direction, I'd do an 8-doc form just in case, on trip #1. -Maybe it's not a bad idea for anyone currently adopting from a region that does not currently require it, if nothing else, to avoid the related expenses just in case.

Anyone else going to Vlad soon? -Will be anxiously awaiting your reports. Schnooks -Thanks for taking the time to let us know about this. You must be exhausted!! Best wishes for a safe journey home!

Didn't you love the short way! I just got an email from another who is there and said she just finished court. In regards to the current case, she said only a few questions were asked and she had the "hard" judge.

Cathvash-It is too bad Snooks found this out there because right after I got back in January, my agency informed me of the new policy. It is NOT the 8 medical form, but a new format of the old one. One doctor can sign off on it and you must attach a letter from the state medical board stating that in this country this type of dr. is trained to diagnose in each of the areas. My agency actally obtained the letter for me. I am thinking once the state boards go through this once, it will become routine for those that follow.

We are hoping to hear something in one week!!!!

Schnooks...

Glad you arrived safely and glad to hear your little man is still all smiles.

Yuckola on your troubles getting the new document you need, but it sounds like it's 'alls well that ends well.'.

I'll be thinking of you on Thursday (although it will be all over by the time I get up).

And yes, the stories are all true about my bossy little Sputnik. His favorite new phrases are "I don't like it!" and "I don't want to!" It makes every day fun and exciting.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Cath... don't you worry.. the people here know that good people are here to love and adopt these children.. I can see it in the workers, etc.

The medical thing will work out.. you should have plenty of notice of what to do. We were the first couples to have to do this with our agency.. there was another couple just last week who did not have to do it.

Thanks to all for the good wishes!

So glad to read you arrived safely. Ugggh! More hoops to jump through!
Thank goodness you were able to get that info faxed over. You're in my thoughts on Thursday. I know things will go smoothly. You're in good hands!

All the best! Can't wait to see the little guy's picture!!!

Thanks also for the reassurance. Can you believe you are actually there!!?? Too cool!!

The ramifications from this sort of thing could be much worse than what we are seeing so far. Knock on wood!!

We have to get a statement from the state medical board for this same reason. We are really pulling for you on this. Dying to hear how your court date goes, esp. since we will be there in less than two weeks

Good Luck, Good Luck Good Luck.

I sent you a PM earlier today - I made it through court yesterday here in Vlad, as Aphi86 mentioned above. We will be here for the 10 day wait period. If I don't hear from you before court, good luck, and don't be nervous!
