Hospital Syndrome - part two
A few weeks ago I asked anyone if they were familiar with hospital syndrome, or hospital rock. (Our son came home doing this.) I got so much good info from all of you. So, THANKS!!!!!
A special thanks to Angelkisses who posted a list of things to do for attachment parenting. Our child is not demonstrating any of the signs of a child with attachment disorder, but I decided to do three of the things on the list anyway. I figured that they couldn't hurt. One peice of advice was to increase body contact. I have begun reading Ian stories by laying on the floor and having him lay on my tummy with his head nestled just under my chin so that he is touching me from his head to his toes. Another bit of advice that I was able to implement easily was to make sure that as I fed him his bottle at night, good eye contact was achieved. I make sure that he is very aware of who is feeding him. The final thing that I was able to do easily was to give him a little baby massage with lotion after each bath. It certainly does not last for the recommended 30 minutes, but it is nice and he enjoys it. The difference in attachment behaviors from our son was immediate!!! Wow!! Ian has now actually fallen asleep two times without rocking. (He still rocks a lot, and I am OK with that, but it is nice to see the behavior slowly starting to fade.) Thanks everyone.
