Techies: I need help with mp3 stuff....
Hi all -- hopefully someone can help me with this.
I got a DVD burner (DVR) for Christmas, and am now determined to create a DVD slideshow with all of our adoptions pics. I managed to use the program we have (Nero 6, which came with the DVR) to create the slideshow, and even add captions/ words. However, I want to add music to it. So here's my problem. I downloaded 2 songs that I want to add to the project off if iTunes. I then copied them to the desktop, and they wound up being saved as an "m4p" format (yes, m4p, not mp4). The program I am using only recognizes songs as mp3. So the program will not add the songs b/c it does not recognize them as songs. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance!!

well.. if all else fails you can download wavepad or audacity (or both) for free and just convert them... (save as)

My understanding is that iTunes has, umm...uniqueness. It's from Apple, after all. A converter as suggested by the last poster may be a good idea. (Of course, you could first try just changing the file name extension and see if you can play the tunes with your PC's Windows Media Player or something else OTHER than iTunes.

Thanks for the input, guys. My Dh was playing around with it this AM, and found out that Jim is indeed right: iTunes purposely formats the songs in a way that makes them unreadable on anything other than an iPod and a computer. So much for happy sharing by Apple, huh?
I do have the CD as well, so I am going to try to download the songs off of the CD as a proper format. If not, I can download 2 different software thingys to change the m4p to mp3.

You can RIP your existing CDs using a more or less current version Microsoft Windows Media Player or a third party program, such as RecordNow!, etc.
