Post placement - timing?

When do post-placements occur? I thought the first one was at 6 months...SW called today and said they needed one after a "few weeks" - HUH?

Yes, it is after 6 months. But my understanding was that it needed to be IN Russia at 6 months, so we did ours more at about the 4 month mark.

This one might be for state. In MA where we live you need one at 1 month, 3 month and 6 month for the state. In addition then we do the 6 month, 1 year, 2 year and 3 year for Russia.

Our social worker showed up a whole day early for our first one - hope yours at least shows up as planned!!

We had one done about 6 weeks after we came home. It was required by the state. Our first one that will be sent to Russia will be done later this month which is about 4 months after we brought Andrei home.

If I remember correctly, Colorado requires a post placement at a couple of weeks home and then again at maybe 3 months. Russia only cares about one at 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, and 3 years.

I hope that helps!

On Friday, we received an email stating that we needed to submit ours by January 27, 2006. This is news to us because a month after we brought our children home we were told it was due February 27th. Our social worker is not due to come to our home until January 17, 2006, which is the earliest he is able to come to our home. He has no other appointments available.

Apparently, the email was a result of some changes in Russian law that have occurred recently. I wish they had given us more notice, but they did not. Hopefully, our post placement reports will arrive on time.

Our agency did ours about 3 mo early to make sure it got to Russia in time. We were told to expect the same for our 1 year one as well.

Heard from my agency - seems the 2 week (which we missed...didn't know about) and the 2 month are for Colorado. The rest go both to CO and to Russia...Thanks for giving me input. Thought I was CRAZY!

Does anybody know if the requirements are region specific? Or is it just that the agencies are giving themselves and us months of lead time?!

We came back in April. Our first was due in the early summer, and our second (at nine months) is due in late January.

I'm glad this question was asked, but I sure don't understand why ours are due so much sooner than what I thought was "standard" in Russia!

Happy New Year,
CindyC

Our agency told us that now our post placement report had to go to Moscow before it went to our region. So we had to have our postplacement in to them by about 4 1/2 months to make sure it arrived in the region by 6 months.

Our friends who live by us had to do a post placement 1 month after they were home so it must depend on the region.

Indiana is 6 months, 1 year, 2 years and 3 years. We just did our 2 year the other day.

Anyhow, always get them done about 1.5 months early. They need to translate the paperwork (the agency) and it HAS to be there by a certain time. Plus depending on the region, it could take a LONG time to get there. Also, if they don't get this done by the required time (the agency) they can lose their accreditation. (which is VERY important to them!)
