Anti-depressants?

Hi I was just wondering whether being on anti-depressants is a problem for adopting. I am on a low dose, since I have post-partum depression. I'm about ready to come off of it, but we were going to wait until the adoption went through, since it's probably not a good idea to get off of it right now.

Anyone have any experience with this? If you would like to PM me instead of replying here that would be fine.

Tanja

They can be an issue with a number of regions...their health system is different than ours and their perceptions of mental health care are also very different. You really need to speak with your SW at your agency to get their advise as it may not only affect your timing but also where your dossier goes.

For some regions and agencies its an issue, but not for all. The most important thing is that your physician understand how to decribe the reason for the medication and that it does not effect parenting. You will also need a psych eval in which statements on your behalf about the medication can be spelled out.
