Son getting surgery
Hello everyone. Just to let you know, our son is scheduled to get surgery at 8:30 am on Friday moring. Have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am...
Fortunately we have wonderful friends and we literally ahve a team of volunteers to handle the other kids on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Very thankful for that. Our son, Bojan(6), is getting surgery on his left clubfoot. It was repaired twice before in Serbia. Usually, in the States, clubfeet are repaired during infancey. Surgery is supposed to last two hours or so but surgeon has already told us he's not positive b/c he doesn't know what he'll find till he goes in. We are nervous but he has been begging for his leg to be straight. He has grown alot since he's been here. We know every time he grows b/c he has to go in for an adjustmnet on the prosthetic leg. As he's grown, the clubfoot has become a bit more severe, even w/ the brace on it. It curves in horribly and he hates it. So, surgery. After surgery is where it will get tricky. Wheelchair bound for 2 months and no weight allowed on it at all. Meaning, he'll need help getting dressed, bathing, using the bathroom, everything. This will be hard on him as well because this is now Mr. Independence. Obviously, I will be off the boards for a few days or more. Wanted to wish everyone safe travels and a very Happy Holiday Season. I need to get going here. Today is my 8th wedding anniversary. What are we doing...homework tonight. LOL. Also having to get ready for surgery. And four of us in the family have b-days soon. Busy time is an understatement. If you all wouldn't mind, please keep Bojan in your thoughts and prayers on Friday. It is an overnight hospital stay. This will also be hard on our little "RADish" who is making great strides. But this could set him back for quite a loop. Thinking positive though. Best wishes to everyone. The kids pictures of seen coming home are so cute! Take care,

Hang in There
I know it will not be fun, but you have such an amazing spirit - and clearly your son does, too - I know you will get through this.
My mother [who lives with us] fell and broke both shoulders last summer and was hospitalized for 6 weeks and needed care for several months. It was an ordeal for us all, but she's almost toally recovered now. We are stronger for living through it. Prayers are ascending. Take care of you - Dee

I will definitely be thinking of Bojan, and also praying for you and your husband to have the energy to get through the recovery period.
