Our case worker returned from vacation on the 30th, is it too soon to ask for an update??? I e-mailed her on the 30 th requesting an update of any kind. Since Jun we have been waiting for a video of our girl as the one that we got in May did not work she said that it was not done properly to be compatible with the DVD's here.

I am frustrated with our agency right now. We are "stuck" with them with no reaccreditation, they are trying to work under an accredited agency but looks like that agency cannot get their paperwork straight, the might not work in the region our girl is in, she don't answer e-mails (soon enough for me I guess within 3-5 days) or answer phone calls on the same time frame and of course don't have an answer to way they still dont have their reaccreditations, video, update on our girl or medical questions we sent and I just dont understand why I cannot let them go and move to another agency. I guess I have faith that maybe "tomorrow" will be the day for the good news. Is it too much to ask what is going on? Is it bad to ask for a video promissed over 5 mo ago?

I am so sorry you are struggling...no I do not think asking for the video after 5 months is too much!

HOw long does it take her to reply either by phone or e-mail? If she's not replying within 3-5 days I'd say that's unacceptable. Our case worker responds the day of the call or e-mail. Only every now and then is it the next day, maybe if I wrote late in the day and then it's first thing in the morning. The waiting is hard enough, the lack of information is maddening!!


We haven't had an issue with the reaccreditation, at least thus far and I'm pretty sure that we've been reaccredited for next year already. So I don't really understand why agencies aren't being reaccredited?

I'm sorry I can't offer any more insight, but No, not returning calls or e-mails within 3-5 days is totally unacceptable and I'd be completely frustrated as well.

Carla, not replying to your inquiries quickly is not a good sign about your agency. But not getting the video or medical may not be their fault. Since they're not accredited, the MOE or orphanage may not be willing to release these to you, especially since you haven't gone on Trip #1 yet. I know this happened to us and to other people with our former (unaccredited) agency in another region. The thing is, though, that our agency told us why we couldn't get the info. They didn't stonewall.

I agree with Alison on this...lack of information is one thing and easily explained by the reaccreditation mess, but lack of repsonsiveness to your inquiries is another. The latter is unacceptable. Perhaps a call to someone higher up the agency food chain is in order.

I notate time and days I call and results and as far as I can see I am the one following up with her regarding my phone cals or emails. Emails are rarely answered besides the ones (2) I have saved she sent me with the news that Tyumen might not be a region they might be working any more. It is scary because the agency is not credited yet but still asking for Parents to sign up with.

There is NO excuse for poor communication. They are working for you, not the other way. I know there alot of questions they cannot answer, but they should at least have the courtsey to answer the ones the can. I would go up the food chain, definately.

This is not aceptable also the agency should know that the tape can be taken and be transfered to a VHS. I have family in Europe and we always change the tapes over . Our 24 hour photo does this for us.
I definately would speak to someone higher up in the chain.

I know you are frustrated, and I am in the same position.

There are reasons they have not got you a new video.

1. Since thy are not accredited, the orphanages are not allowed to speak with the agencies. They could risk their jobs by talking to them.

2. Videos are not legal for referrals anymore. They most likely will not be able to get you a new video. Unless they can grease some palms.

I feel your pain, it has been 7 months since I last saw my kids..I have not updates..I dont even know if they ar still available for adoption...all because the Russia Gov. has decided to slow roll the reaccreditations.

Your agency may risk their reaccreditation by just contacting the orphanage. So as much as it sucks, we have to patient andwait for reaccreditation.

I have no other choice, our region will not even allow us
to switch to an accredited agency at this point. That is how sure the judge is that reaccreditations will happen very very soon.

Thank you guys. Dh and I spoke tonight and for the first time since we started he will actually get involve in this situation. He said he will make the phone call this week for us. I am frustrated, sad, melancoly and mostly tired. I cant concentrate, I cant sleep, my mind is not here most of the time or most of the day...it is in Tyumen. I am constantly thinking and praying for my little girl that might be move to a "special needs" home if we don't get to her soon and it is not fair for her!!! The orphanage has been kind enough for keeping her there longer than what they normally keep children in the baby home (as far as we were told). DH and I had to send in request back in the summer along with our home study and I171H approval for her to be able to stay there a little longer as we thought we would be able to get to her a few weeks later. I don't even know if she still in the baby home as of today because I have not been able to get someone from our agency to update but now I understand that it is due to reaccreditations.


All I do is wait and pray that it will happen. I feel bad for complaining and I know I shouldn't because there are so many of you waiting for court days and here I am without my first trip yet making a fuss. We made a HUGE mistate to sign up with them when their creditations were about to expire but honestly I didn't know how this worked and to add I had fallen in love with a beautiful girl that needs us so I didn't really paid that much attention or listen to friends that told me that the # 1 mistake that some of us make is to fall in love with an agency photolist picture without searching for that much agency information (add me to those that make this mistake).

I should have also listen to DH when he told me not to get my hopes up to soon. I did for a while but when October came and I was starting to do our holiday shopping I couldn't resist to add a few items for our Tyumen Princess. Today I thought about returning her cloth as who knows when will we be able to get to her but I just cant seem to be able to do this. I don't know what to do!
