No, not for me... Being a single female, I thought that I would be better suited (just my way of thinking) for a 'daughter'. I wished that I could afford both a little girl and boy, but that was not in the cards! My daughter who just turned 9 years old, is the light of my life, and has given meaning to this "once career" minded person! Everyday is an adventure, and am now planning a special outing for her and I on our "Court date" anniversary - December 23rd! Then on January 17th - "Our Gottcha" day 1st anniv. I can't believe that we are approaching one year!

To all that have started 2nd leg of your "Love Journey", TIME GOES VERY QUICKLY!!! Savor every tired, trying & joyous moment!

Blessings to all that follow their Heart!

Not really, we joked that is was truly the one way I could guarentee DH a boy, a couple months into it, he questioned whether we should not specify, but that didn't last long, also the fact boys were quicker was a big factor for us.

Nungesser, your already hard at work aren't you!!!!

Nope, it was not hard. At first we said it didn't matter, boy or girl. Then the agency said 6-8 months referral for boy and a 8-10 months for a girl. Still it didn't matter. When lo and behold my DH comes to me and says I think you (me-DW) would have more fun with a girl. I ponder this for about two days. It then hits me, He's figured out that when his "son" would be 15 he would be 65! I went to him and asked if that was the reason and he says, yep it's crossed his mind! He goes onto say that I could be 80 and still go shopping, do nails etc. He added that he would love to have the daddys little girl syndrome!!!

That's how we decided Samantha would come into our lives.

For us, it was very easy because we had decided to do two at once as DH said there was no way in you-know-what he was going through this process ever again after we were about waist-high deep in the paperwork, heh, heh. Therefore we thought if we're gonna do two at once, why not request a little boy and a little girl so as to enjoy the experience of raising both a daughter and a son, plus we wanted them to experience having a sibling. We had requested an infant and a toddler, didn't care who was who as to age, but ended up with two infants just one month apart -- so you really just never know what the future has in store for you!

It's been awesome -- Alexandra and Christopher have become the light of our lives. We are so blessed with our two cutie patooties, and strongly recommend doing two at a time if you are able and up for a challenge!

No, I always thought I wanted boys, but when we decided we would only adopt one it made me sad to think I would never pick out little girl stuff, so as silly as that may seem that is how we decided!

NO - we really didn't care. When we first started we were asked were we ok with getting a girl because there was no one waiting for girls at the time and most people usually expect a boy. We said no. Then by the time we put in our paperwork there were a few families that requested girls so we were asked are you sure you are ok with a boy. And of course we were matched with a girl!!!

Next time around we will probably request a boy though.

Not for us either. We completed an unsuccessful try at IVF right before signing on with our agency, and we wouldn't have gotten to choose the gender that way, either. So I wasn't really picky - I just wanted a child. But when my husband said he wanted a boy so that there would be someone around to take care of me if something happened to him, how could I refuse?

Sure, I was concerned at first - after 33 years, I still feel like I know very little about men, so how would I raise one? Now I'm the proud parent of a great little boy and can't imagine my life any other way.

P.S. Seven months later, I still haven't been able to figure out the male mind, but I'm gettin' there.

Between DH and I, we have 4 girls and we both really wanted a boy since we had a choice this time. If we do it again, we'll request another boy.

When we turned our application in we asked for a girl, but a couple of months later a letter went out to all of the waiting parents that said the wait for a girl is alot longer so we changed instantly. It didnt matter to us. Now I cant imagine my life without him

We decided we wanted siblings soon after deciding to adopt. We also were open to 2 boys, 2 girls, or 1 of each. I always thought we would have boys. We figured we could not choose the gender if we were pregnant, so we would let God decide for us. (We do respect those who do have a gender preference.)

For our first adoption...we requested a girl...it was just something we had agreed upon...no real reason.

For the second adoption, we requested a Euro-Asian girl from Samara...ended up with a blond haired, blue-eyed BOY?!

They are perfect to us!
