Prime Time, they are airing it.
I just saw on the ABC morning show a preview for the story about the Russian girl that was abused by her "father". She is 13 now and speaking pulicly about the abuse.
I had really hoped they would listen to our emails. But I guess ratings are more important than the potential risk to thousands of children and hopeful parents.

That's too bad ... I really just hope they show a fair representation of what international adoption is about. What the man did was HORRIBLe, but that has nothing to do with the girl's origin.

It's under "Primetime Live" and "Primetime Live - Please read", I think. They have the "new" sign by them.
And, I agree with the mother that this story needs to be told. I just hope they focus on the crime and this strong girl's ambition to recover. It ISN'T about international adoption ... it's about a sick man!

Good and right will never prevail over that. The best thing to do is boycott the sponsors and the parent company of ABC...Disney! Hopefully it will be balanced by 'proper' adoptions...but I won't hold my breathe...

as much as i don't want the show to air, the girl deserves a voice. i hope it is handled in a way that respects her.
however, i wonder if this is really the most respectful way to give her a voice.

I just sent Primetime an e-mail telling them how disgusted I am that they are airing this story. They ran a teaser story on Good Morning America this morning and as soon as they started it I jumped up and ran and turned off the TV. My daughter was sitting there! I was so angry I found myself yelling at the TV.
Irresponsible ratings-grabbing jerks!! This gives fuel to the fire for people like my snotty relative who told me she knew another woman who had "bought her child in Russia." It was hard not to slap her. ABC should be bombarded by our e-mails, even more today... look on Google for ABC News Primetime and go there and scroll down and you'll find the link to sending an e-mail.

I agree with Votemom that if the girl wants to share her story she should be able to, I also hope it is done respectfully and I also hope they can balance it out by noting how many adoptions work out well.
Bottom line, is this girl went thru hell and back and if this is a way for her to help with her healing, than more power to her, she was failed by the system and those supposed to protect her--happens every day in this country, we see stories on the news and on new shows of children being hurt or killed by their parents (both bio and adoptive), it is obviously a societal issue, and while I completely understand PAP's worries of how this was and is continued to be viewed in Russia, I think people need to be aware of these stories. If one sw sees this and stops to do an extra check on someone, or agencies offer more support both pre and post placements, if even one child is helped and protected, than to me it is worth it. I just have a hard time protesting one show because it deals with a Russian adoption, but not seeing people up in arms over shows aired on other high profile parent-child murders?

I guess I just don't agree w/ the network running the promo and adding the narrative that he "bought his daughter". Is that a necessary comment if the purpose is for the child to have a voice? They are putting their own spin on it (as Karen mentioned for $$$$$).

I don't want it aired either. I thought I had heard somewhere that they pulled it from earlier viewing so that they could revamp it and add information regarding all the international adoptions that are wonderful familiy stories.
