Our New Little Man
I wanted to be sure to get back on the forum and share our story. This forum has been such a great help in our journey and I want to thank everyone for their willingness to share openly and everyone's thoughtfulness in praying and helping us even though we have never met.
Our adoption process seemed to take an eternity when in fact it took less than 12 months. We had an excellent agency that I would highly recommend to anyone - if interested pm me. My DH and I have been married for 13 years and it had become apparent that we were not going to have a biological child of our own. I kept trying to convince myself that I would be okay without a child. I was wrong. I would never truly be happy unless I had a child that I could love and care for. A friend from work told me that their relative was adopting from Russia and that I should look into the process. I went home and talked to my husband and he seemed a little hesitant about it, but was willing to listen to what I had found out. The next thing you know we were on our way. The paperwork seemed endless and I shed many many tears over the last 11 months. I spent sleepless nights wondering if our dream would ever come true and that we would hear little footsteps around our house. I prayed constantly, bugged our agency to no end, fought with my husband (for no reason other than to let the frustration out) and endured the adoption process. It is a very long, difficult, expensive process, but no matter what - it is so very worth it. I was hoping that I would someday be the one to say or write that and I'm glad that I have had the chance. Our two trips to Russia went very fast. Our agency took very good care of us and they had everything in order. We didn't get to do much sightseeing, but we were glad that we got our son home as quickly as we did. Would I do it again? If I could afford it - definitely. We love Dillion with all our heart and soul. He has made our family complete. He is everything we had ever dreamed of. He is our little angel from Russia.
