Special once-in-a-lifetime day!
Today is a special day for us...a once-in-a-lifetime day.
Today marks the day that our little boy has spent more of his life with us than without us. Wow. He is such a great little guy, full of life and I can't imagine my world without him in it. We are having a low-key family celebration day. Just us. We had hoped to drive out to the hills by our house to look up at the stars (he loves stars), but it is raining. Not sure what we'll do tonight. Maybe just be together, relaxing. Here is a recent pic. I love this one for some reason.... ![]()

Wow congratulations!
I look forward to this day (albeit it is a way off since I adopted an older child). I remember back to my college years. A friend of mine had moved to the US as a 10 yr. Age 21, at a bar and and my friend tells me she felt validated? Huh?? She said she finally felt more American than she did European. She felt more at home being American than her previous country -- Its a weird concept. Though I am looking forward to the day my daughter is 11 yrs 2 mos 16 days -- on that day I will have been her mother longer than anyone else. Think she'll listen to me then??

Ahh, I remember celebrating that day (it was only a year ago). I finally felt legitimate, like I could take credit for all the wonderful things that DD did.

Thanks everyone for the compliments and the well wishes.
We had a pretty mellow day. The rain kept us in. We did file for his U.S. Passport finally though, so that feels good. We brought him out for his first real dinner in a restaurant. We've done lunches, but never dinner. We went to a Mexican restaurant. He had guacamole (loved!) and a bean/cheese burrito, which he also loved. I had a cadillac margarita with my dinner so I'm feeling no pain! A great day all-in-all!

They are really cute together, for the most part. My sweet little pug gets a bit bent out of shape sometimes though - she doesn't like sharing me. Typical pug! They do play together - Sean likes to shake her toys for her and then they play together a bit. Pugs are so gentle. I watch them very closely and our pug has the patience of a saint. Sean does hit her occassionally, mostly when he is tired. I am always watching though. She is my little baby too! She gets pretty tired of following me around the house though. It has been great though - I am really happy with their relationship. Sean kisses and hugs Java 95% of the time, so that is pretty good for a toddler!

Congratulations. We didn't formally "mark" the day with our DS, but I definitely noticed it and it was a great day.
Looking forward to when we can cross that milestone with our DD, too. Sounds like you had a wonderful day, despite the rain. Congratulations! Kim
