Exclamation Hurricane Rita

I just want to say that you guys in the path of this hurricane are in my prayers!! Please be safe!!!

Also wanted to add I will pray for those in Florida who may feel the effects of Rita in the form of tornados!

Who is in Texas? Galveston? They are already saying by tomorrow it will be a cat 4...Maybe a cat 4 by landfall...I am so concerned for Texas and others who are in the line of fire...this could be another Katrina...

Is there anyone here who has alreay started making plans to evacuate?

papedge..I know talking with you earlier you said you are going ot leave right?

Please know you are in my prayers!!!!

We live in the Dallas area, and at worst we will get some rain and tornados, my brother however does live in the Houston area and is currently preparing for the worst. I truly hope it is not as bad as they are predicting.

I'm in the Houston area. At this point, we have an evacuation plan in place. We'll probably wait until tomorrow or Thursday to decide if we actually need to leave. If the need is there, I'm so outta here. Just working on gathering all the irreplacable items that will need to go with me.

Yes, they started early this morning on relocating the remaining Katrina evacuees that were still in the shelters. It was felt that the buildings they were in would not be safe shelters in the event of a hurricane hitting here (glass cover on the astrodome). They should all be moved to safer ground well before/if Rita sets her sites on us.

I can't imagine what those evacuees are feeling right now....

Since Rita is already a cat 3 guys...I hope and pray you evacuate.

We were spared the worst of Rita for sure...but it was so sad to see the Katrina evacuees who were being evacuated yet again in the wake of Rita....there are quite a few Katrina evacuees down here.

Stay safe and you will be in our prayers.

Karen

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the path of Rita. My heart just breaks for the people and the animals that have been and will be affected by this terrible hurricane season.

We live in The Woodlands which is about 1hr 45 min from Galveston. My husband just called and said that his police dept. was going into emergency mode of 12 hour shifts. He also said the interstate was at a complete stand still. UGH... tonight I leave for Huntsville. He has to stay to take care of things here --please pray for him and the other officers.

Thanks

We live in Tomball which is near The Woodlands. We are also staying put for now because we truly believe it will be fine where we're at, but we're going to keep a close eye on things and will go to Dallas to my brother's house if we have to.

Good luck everyone.

We're in College Station, which is 90 miles to the NW of Houston, so we are staying put. But we're expecting to lose power and get lots of wind and rain. You guys all get out if you need to and stay safe! Nursing and retirement home residents from Galveston are already arriving here.

Mike

We're heading out to Austin, leaving tomorrow evening. The roads are jam-packed with all of the mandatory evacuations in place. We're hoping to let the brunt of that pass before we head out. We'll have plenty of time to get out before the storm hits.

It's crazy here. The gas stations are all of out gas. The stores are all out of staple supplies. The home depots are all out of lumber and generators. Any whereever you go, it's like rush-hour traffic (at 1 in the afternoon). I've never seen anything like it. I expected the banks to be out of money, but thank goodness, they still have some.
