Just spoke to our daughter in Russia.....

We just got off the phone with our new daughter at the orphanage in Russia through our interpreter here in the California. It was a delightful call. Her mother and I are on cloud 9.

We know how tough it is for all the folks like us who are in between trips and waiting for that most important call informing us of an impending court date.

One of the wonderful things about adopting an older child (our daughter is 14) is that you can communicate with them and they have a real understanding as to what is going on.

We were amazed at just how knowledgeable and up to date she is on current events and the political climate there in Russia. Beleive it or not she even mentioned her concerns about the pending legislation to propose a moritorium on international adoption there. We of course used this opportunity to to set her little heart and mind at ease and tell her that everything will be all right. Faith is a very powerful tool.

It is just so wonderful to have the opportunity to actually tell the child that is waitning for you that you still love them with all your heart and you think about them every minute of every day. It is even more wonderful to hear them express the same feelings for you. It sure helps to make the wait a lot more bearable.
