Do they tell you if you are never getting a court date?
Just wondering if they, Russia or the agency tells you if you are not going to ever get a court date. Does anyone know? Has anyone been told this?

Hey neighbor! It will happen! Hang in there a little longer! I can not even imagine how hard this long wait is between trips, but you will get your son! We have been involved with Russian adoption 2+ years, and I have never heard of anyone that got denied a court date after a successful first trip.

If I remember (if wrong, please someone correct me), I think August and December are months that Russia "shuts-down."
A former co-worker adopted from St. Pete in 2003. Her first trip was in July but heard nothing until September about her second trip which was a few weeks later in late Sept - early Oct. Hang in there, I know you've come a long way.

I hear you....I am right there with you! We got back from trip #1 5/27 - lots of extra paperwork, a cancelled court date in July (due to a missing release letter on their end), a judge's 5 week vacation, and we are now looking at no news until after Labor Day (when her vacation ends). Aaaahhh! Hoping my 8 sig medical form , done in July does not expire before we go back!

I ask this question all of the time. I have yet to receive an answer from my agency. All they tell me is that they think it will happen. Sometimes I wish my case manager and my agency were more positive, which would make me think more positively.
The fact that all of the other families in the same region I am adopting from have brought their babies home and I have been waiting much longer tells me that something is not right; however, the agency just keeps telling me that we have a difficult judge who asks for documents that are made up along the way. Sometimes I feel like giving up and then there are days when I have to believe it is going to happen, just not in my time frame. I just hope I will not have to wait another year.

We were told by an indy facilitator that she once had to submit paperwork to three different judges (they each can keep your paperwork for 30 days before making a decision or making on decision) before one gave a court date.
I don't think it happens that you won't be given a court date (if everything is in order), but I think it (rarely) happens that you may be told "no" IN court.

Thanks Theresa! I do remember I said I would follow you through and be right behind you.... I feel like the last racer in a marathn.. the one that crosses the finish line after the camera crews have left... finishing but with a bit less gusto... but finishhing :-)

our first trip was mid May, and we have no news because our agency is still not reaccredited yet. They did say that things have slowed down in the past 2 months, but that they will be picking up again soon.
If you have your release letter, then there is no reason they would not give you a court date, and if the Judge needed more documents, they would most likely tell you. So hang on....i am on this ride with you...the scariest ride i have ever taken........as soon as we step off, it will be worth every minute :-) For now we must be patient, and know that this will happen at the right time
