Thanks to all who have responded to my previous posts here. We want to adopt a boy, preferably caucasian and under 18 months. We have friends that successfully adopted from Russia before the rules changed in 2005.

We have been researching agencies and keep changing our minds based on who we talked to last or heard about most recently. Every agency we talk to is giving us different information in terms of length of time to adopt and pros/cons of different countries, relative health of the children, etc. We do not know who to believe. We are interested in your recommendations for agencies to consider when adopting from Russia or Kazakhstan. We would prefer to use an agency that works in both countries since we are still debating about the country. On Friday, one agency told me Ukraine was closed and another said it was open. Is nothing clear?

Hi. Yes, Ukraine is closed for the time being while they change the adoption laws. But they are still accepting dossiers, just who knows when you'll be able to complete an adoption. I'll send you a pm about our agency. They work in Kazakhstan, Russia, and the Ukraine.
