How long did you all wait for the I171 and was it delivered regular mail? We've been (impatiently) waiting. I can't mail our dossier till I get it!

I just got mine in the mail yesterday.
We live in MA I submitted app. the end of Feb.
and got fingerprinted on March 16th.
So about 2 months.
It did arrive regular mail.

We also had to wait for INS. The wait is hard.

Our INS paperwork was lost by BCIS and found two months later. Sent in July received I171 approval in November.... it seemed like a life time! actually it seemed like two life times. It helps to find a contact number. I made an on line appointment and met some of the INS ladies. Once we turned in our home study, she had the I171 to us in less than 5 days. She new us and it certainly did not hurt! I will forever be grateful to this woman. Good Luck & do grease thw wheel where you can. Its amazing what it can do!

Ours came in 2 weeks in 10-2003 (Philly BCIS). It came by regular mail.

Memphis BCIS took about 2-3 months from the time of fingerprinting. You can go for that any Wednesday. The folks there are nice, but if you have any problems, you can't get them on the phone at all.

I had the same question, and was about to post it myself.

We fingerprinted on March 23 and haven't heard back yet...I'm still hoping to receive the 171H by the end of this month.

Sounds like a 2-3 month wait is not unusual, so I won't stress over this (at least not yet!)

(Our office requires that paperwork and homestudy be submitted together, so that's what we did (in early March))

Mine took a long time like three months too I'm in Chicago though, but anyway I had my Social Worker call several times to check. Thank God she did because both times it fell on her to get them something!!!

Ours took 90 days. Just keep on top of it. It turns out it was sitting on a desk ready to go for 2 weeks before we received it.

This varies so much by office. In Cincinnati, it seems to take about 1 month from submission of homestudy.

You might try joining the InternationalAdoptXX group for your state.
(replace XX with your two letter state abbreviation)

Most of them have a database on current I-171H timelines

When we submitted our application in April, we got a letter back saying it would take up to 4 weeks after our fingerprint appointment, which we just had on Saturday. We'll see. We live in CT but have to use Boston office.
