I was curious to see what the grandparents are called. My mom is a first time grandparent. We had a hard time trying to figure out what she wanted to be called. Now I know to that when Daria is talking she may call her something totally different.
For now my mom is going to be called Gammy. What are your parents wanting to be called or if they have grandchildren already what are they being called now. Thanks

Grandparents
My son calls my side of the family Papa and Patches. My Mom is 69 and looks like she is in her 50's and under no circumstances wanted to be called grandma or nana.
My husbands side are the regular papa and Grandma

My parents are granny and gramps. My nephews came up with gramps years ago and it's stuck ever since.
My mother in law did not want to be called anything related to being a grandmother (argh), so we call her Milly (comes from my husband originally referring to her as this when she was my mother in law-MIL) and her husband is Rich. As you said, they will likely come up with something on their own and it will stick!!! Jane |

I havet two nieces who call my parents Safta and Saba (which are Hebrew for Grandma and Grandpa). This was not their choice, but thrust upon them by my SIL because her parents and stepmother had taken all the traditional titles with earlier grandchildren and she didn't want duplication. Before DD came home they both came to us and asked that she call them something like Grandma and Grandpa ("I can never remember my name" my mother said.) So despite the fact that SIL thought it would be confusing to the kids to have one set of cousins calling them one thing and another calling them something else, they are Grandma and Grandpa. My mother's husband is Grumpy and my inlaws are Grandmom and Grandpop (which is a tiny bit confusing because the two titles sound similar).
I called my grandparents (three of blessed memory) Grandma and Grandpa and Oma (she's still alive) and Opa.

I failed to mention, my mom's name is Nancy and she was teased as a child being called nanny, so needless to say that name was out the window from the start.
My husband's parents are both deceased (mom-2 months before our wedding and dad about 5 years later). They were Grandma Libby and Granddad.

We started with Grandma and Grandpa. My daughter actually calls them Gamaw and Pampaw. Her english has improved with her GR sounds but the names thus far have remained the same.
My nephews use Gramps -so it may change over time. I have actually become quite fond of Pampaw for some reason.

My parents are Nanny and PopPop. Kyle's dad is PopPop also (what he wanted to be called). Kyle's stepmother is called Mimi.
Kyle always called his mother Maude (don't ask, dumb story) anyway Alex calls her Maudie and we just let it go. Vicki

My parents are Grandma and Grandpa and my DPs parents are Granny and Grandpa. The 2 grandpa's are a bit confusing, so when they are not within earshot we call them Tall Grandpa and short Grandpa! not our long term solution.......

My mom and stepdad are grammom/grandpop, In laws are granny and PopPop, and my dad and stepmom are Pop and Noni. My grandmother is sticking with what we call her Meme or Meem and my other grandmother wants either GG (GiGi) or Nanny (but we had two ggrandoms named Nanny, so I rather not use them).

My mom is called Nee-Nee that came from Nana and my step father (my father is deceased) is called Ba-Ba. My MIL does not want to be referred to as grandmother in ANY form she tries to get them to call her BeBe, but they don't call her anything, we do not see her that often. They call FIL Ba-Ba too.

Hayden calls my mother "Gammaw" and my dad "Gampaw". He couldn't say grandma & grandpa at first and they have stuck now. My grandmother has been "Baba" since I was little - so she stays the same. Kevin's mom is "Babushka" and sometime he'll call her "Grammaw Kathy".
I really wanted my mom to be called "Grannymac", but Hayden made up his own name. I think I'll try and make Helena and the new baby call her that. I made up the name for her - she HATES being called granny - so I think it's funny and really want the kids to call her that! I tried to pick the most rednecked thing for kids to call her when we were ttc. It's been a joke for years between us! She made up her own name for Cody "gramma sweet" - although she swears he did it. She even has a little saying about not calling her granny that maybe she'll share.

DH is German. His parents (are Grandparents 5x's over) are known as Oma (German for Grandma) and Opa (German for Grandpa). In fact when we visit w/them, we even call them Oma and Opa, they call each other Oma and Opa (b/c many of the Grandchildren are named after each of them and getting ones' attention can be difficult).
My Parents- Grandma / Grandpa

Hi Shay.... My daughter calls my Mom "Oma". She didn't want to call her "babushka" last summer, and what is traditional for our family is "Mom-Mom", which was tooooo confusing for her with her calling me "MaMa" - toooo close sounding. Since we've been home, I now know why she wouldn't (last summer) refer to her as Babushka... she remembers one, and talks of her once in awhile. She now calls my Dad - "Pop-Pop", and my Mom remains "Oma". Both of their respective spouses are "Opa" and Grandmom. My sister's adopted daughter just calls them Mom-Mom & Pop-Pop.

My dad and stepmom are grammy and pop-pop, my mil and fil are also grammy and pop-pop (we weren't 1st grandchildren). We differentaite by using Mommy's pop-pop/grammy and daddy's pop-pop/grammy at the moment. Its confusing and leads to disaappoint if we aren't really clear who's coming to visit or where we are going. My mom is grandmom and her husband we don't really call anything unless we have to and then we use his name Kenny. My paternal grandparents are nanny and pop-pop-pop(we added the third when he bcame a great grandfather) and my maternal grandparents are granddot and granddat (long story) and my great grandmother (yes she is still alive) is Ma'am-maw (a southern thing) and my great grandfather (who is deceased now) was pap-paw
