Packing question
I know this has been posted many times before, but I did a search and couldn't find the same question, so here goes...
How many items of clothing would you suggest for an 11 day trip? We are adopting from Krasnoyarsk so it will still be colder, but not as cold as January. I am trying to figure out how to have enough clothing to layer without taking too much. We overpacked first trip and can't afford to do that this time since we have all of his stuff, gifts, etc. to contend with. I am planning to take detergent and will have facilities in our region to do laundry, so that will help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! We leave Friday so I am starting to pack now. We seem to be on the same wavelength today!!
I just started packing our little guys stuff last night and now I am overwhelmed...I can't believe all the stuff we are taking for him!!! And we too, are taking gifts this trip..and our stuff...ugg!! Okay, I am really starting to get into stress mode...not to mention our Visas are not back.... Our region will be much warmer then your region...I would suggest packing a few sweaters with several t-shirts to wear under if needed...you could always wear the t-shirts on the plane back...I hear we will need them Also button down shirts worked well for us..they are thinner and would dry quicker when washed rather then a sweater...anything with latex, polyester, spandex drys very quick!I hope these help you out a little bit.... We will have some good stories for the board when we return!!!

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I traveled in Dec & Jan to Moscow (BRRRRRR), anyway, I took ONE biz suit for court, and then 5 pairs (wore one on plane) pants (solid colors), and then 6 solid sweaters that could mix and match with the pants. A BIG bottle of woolite (I washed clothes/underwear, etc.) in the bathtub at night. It worked out very well. Now keep in mind, I was there for 8 days, and then back for 9 days (Blizzard prevented us from leaving). This worked well for me. Hope this helps alittle.

We'll be in Moscow for 11 days. We are packing jeans, which many Muscovites do wear. We're taking sweaters as well, and T-shirts to wear underneath so we can get a few wears out of the sweaters. I'm also taking a couple of shift dresses (casual) with sweaters, because they don't take up much room.
This is our third and final trip, and we're bringing home baby. I came up with an idea that worked out really well. For your fragile things (I bought ceramic flower pots filled with little things for caregivers) use diapers to wrap things in and to separate to keep from breaking!

My only experience was Trip 1 in April to a region where the temps varied from 40 to 70 F. I found long sleeved cotton tee shirts and jeans, and a lightweight coat to be great. I brought only one sweater and never needed it beacuse the inside is kept so warm and i had the coat for outdoors (which I rarely used, I was always still cooling down from being inside!) So, especially if you can do wash, I'd bring only 5 shirts, one sweater and maybe one or two jeans..and a nice outfit for court. Packing light is just great!
Happy travels!!
