Emma-Home 2 months.....
Hello everyone.... We have been home 2 months now and with all the company and trying to work from home I really haven't had the time to sit down and tell about our story. We went to Krasnoyarsk on Feb 5 and once we got to the region we went directly to the Orphanage to see Emma. She was wonderful.... and she grew so much. She was still very content and serious. She was crawling all over and standing up ( same child that my MIL was worried was to lathargic (spelling)). Anyway she was wonderful. We spent like 2-3 hours with her and had so much fun. She really took to dh and the orphanage workers and social worker from the region were amazed by that. They had a few people from the region to watch us with her. They all commented on how healthy she was and how well she took to us. It was like she knew we were there to take her home. We left and the next day was court. We got there 20 mins early and waited another 30-40 from our appt time. The couple that was in there before us came out and were not happy. This made us very nervous. They called ys in and the judge just asked questions mostly to Mark, our salary, about our house and family. They really stuck on the point that Emma has Asian features and would we be able to deal with that. Then we found out that three Russian families met her and turned her down. I cryed then... but I was happy because she was now ours. She was very to the point but pleasant. Once we talked for about 30 mins they dismissed us for about 5 mins and called us back to tell us she was ours. Once it was over the judge came to us and shook our hands and said congrats. She later told our agency rep she really liked us. That was a bonus. We went right over the orphanage and picked Emma up. Once we got back to the apartment it was as though someone turned on her light and she was just lively and outgoing. We couldn't get over the difference in her. It was amazing. They told us to keep her warm and all that good stuff.... well she hated it so we took everything off but her sleeper and she was so happy. To this day she can't stand to be hot! We spent the next 3 days getting docs and passport and just spending time with her. Then on Sat we left for Moscow. We went to the medical exam and that was actually better than we thought the doctor was wonderful. Gave us tips and noted how healthy she was. We went to the visa office at the Embassy the next day and all went well. about 15 familes were there as well. We were outta there on Tues!!! The flight went very well and no big problems at all. Now Emma is home and wonderful. She eats like nothing I have ever seen and has gained another 5 pounds. She is the best baby. So content, and happy... will go anywhere. Just feed her and give her a nap and she is good to go. She sleeps through the night and is the best thing that has ever happend to us. I can't get over how people stop us and tell us how beautiful she is and when we are at a resturant people will stop to tell us how good she is. WONDERFUL!!! It was worth the two year wait and then some. Hang in there everyone you will be so happy you did. I am attaching several pics as I need to catch up!!!! Oh and i didn't really want her to walk soon but I am so happy she is.... I really makes life easier!!! Hugs and hope to all, Kathleen

She is gorgeous! I love the pic of her in the snowsuit in the car. So sweet.
My son's birthmother was Korean, but we didn't experience the same grilling by the judge (luckily). Also, we had a similar story. I was convinced that my son could not hear and was even unable to make sounds (mute). Well - I couldn't have been more wrong! I have to sneak around the place so he doesn't hear me and he is a major motor mouth! It really is such a difficult process and so hard to know what is right. You did it though - congratulations!!! ![]()
