Liking some of the Fun Threads - Another?

The "fun" threads that ahnasmom posted seemed to engage people in a festive way this weekend and helped pass some time for folks.

What are everyone's vacations plans this summer? And, if you are not vacationing this year - what is your dream vacation?

We are going to Nags Head the week of July 4th with my whole family and my Uncles family. We have a 10 bedroom house on the water with pool, jaccuzzi etc. We will either love or hate each other - 4 in their 60/70's, 3 - forty somethings, 7 - 30 somethings, a 16, 11, 7, 3.5 and 9 month old.

Next year it is the Disney Cruise with some fellow board members!

Barring sudden travel plans (wink wink)We are off to beautiful Destin, Fla. My clients meet me down there & we shoot family portraits on the beach at sunset. The rest of the time we stay in private houses right on the water, & the kids swim, rent wave runners and the grown ups hang out in the sun for some much needed relaxation! It will definatley be a welcome distraction to the waiting, but is it just me, or does everyone envision their new child vacationing WITH them???? Somehow it wont be the same til shes home with us. Heres to many many folks
"vacationing" in Russia!!!!! Ü

Well we killled most of our vacation time in Russia but we saved a week for my sister's wedding in July. Everyone in our family is so excited for her to be there (on top of being excited for the wedding). My family from Ireland is coming and it will be the first time they meet Aisling as well as other family from Buffalo. My sister is marrying into a Guatemalan family so there will be a fun blending of traditions! Both sides are staying up there for a few days after the wedding so it should be a good time!

Extra bonus: The wedding is in NH so an extra plus is I get to see Britfish and both of our daughters will get to play together!

On the flight from Russia to the U.S. with Sean (our 8mos old) I swore I wouldn't be flying again anytime soon. However, I think that we will be going to Ireland sometime in November to see family. Should be interesting!

My dream vacation.........hmmmmm. There are two places on my list that are now going to be difficult. Peru and India. Peru would be great, but too difficult with an infant. India we'd need at least 3-4 weeks, so that would be difficult also. Oh well....I guess it will be beach vacations for a while - not so bad!

I am horribly boring - all my dream vacations include short flights and people bringing me drinks with umbrellas in them. Certainly can't have too many with the little one - but the virgin versions work too!

We are going to Ocean City Maryland in July and Dewey Beach in Delaware in August.

My dream vacation, I have several. We would love to go to Hawaii, also Ireland and Italy.

I know the local beaches sound a little boring , but we are waiting until Alex gets older. When he is 5 we are going to Disney World.

When he is 10 we may go to Ireland. I think Hawaii and Italy will have to wait until Alex is grown....LOL.

Thanks again for such a fun thread! We are going to Disney World in 5 weeks with our son and we cannot wait! I think he he going to have such a blast. This summer is up in the air right now depending on DH work schedule but then the week of Thanksgiving we will be in Fort Myers, FL for a big family celebration for the holiday we have most of the hotel rooms booked in our hotel for family so I think its going to be alot of fun (especially because its cold here by then).

As far as dream vacation go I would have to think about that one as DH and I have been very fortunate in our lives to have travelled to alot of the places we have wanted to. DH favorite place is an island in Greece and my favorite city is London so those are always great choices!

I am going to Williamsburg at the end of May, unless of course I get a referral and go to Russia. I have a time share there and I figure I don't have to pay to go there, if you go the week you own, and I don't have the extra money to spend. I know there is a person on here from Williamsburg, if anybody knows what her name is I'd like to meet her.

Great idea! It's so interesting to learn about each other.

We live in Florida so we have lots of vacation options every weekend and plan to hang out by the pool (our first summer at this house....with a pool! ) I am sure the princess will get to go to Disney once or twice too.

But we are going to upstate NY to visit my family in July...we haven't been there since May 2004...it will be so much fun...my neice (2.5) and nephew (4.5) are planning a b-day party for Alex (2) and Arianna (4)...

In August I turn 40 so we are going to the Florida Keys to a family resort where we can swim with dolphins and just hang out and relax.

Labor Day weekend DH's cousin in Jersey is getting married and Alex has never been to Long Island/Jersey to meet DH's family....

My dream vacation...a cruise to Alaska or going to the Galopagos Islands. DH's...Italy of course.

We aren't doing anything great this year. Does going to the EAC picnic in Cleavland on Memorial Day count? Otherwise, we are going to do a "St. Louis vacation" at the end of July. We are going to Grant's Farm, the zoo & the arch. No big thrill for Kevin & I (we were both raised there) but it might be fun for the kids. We had planned on going to Disney World - but cancelled due to the pregnancy and needing to save some money

Our 10 yr anniversary is coming up in 1 1/2 yrs - so we are planning to do something nice (w/o the kids!) either Christmas 2006 or spring break of 2007. Not sure what at this point - possibly a beach somewhere.

We're hoping to be able to take the kids on a decent vacation the summer of 2007. After we've recovered from yet another year of my salary being cut by another maternity leave next school year, I'm going to need some vacations!

Jersey

Ahna's mom if you can fit an afternoon or evening with adoption people into the itinerary. The Jersey crowd would love to host something in your honor so that we can meet.

I swam with dolphins in Cancun and loved it. How young can the kids be to participate in FL? I think the age in Cancun was 12.

Vicki - what is it like in Dewey Beach. We are looking at closer alternative than the outerbanks for our biannual family things. It is a 12 hour hike to the Outerbanks for us.

Bratgirl - I think of the EAC picnic as part of my vacation itinerary. We are looking forward to it. First time that the little one has been on a plane since the loooong flight home from Moscow. This one has to be easier!

Rainy - let me know if you come to Jersey I would love to have a professional protrait done. So far my attempts with the two of us haven't panned out too well. Sound like you are truly patient with the kids and could get the shot.

Dh has 2 weeks in August. We plan on going up to DC to visit my brother. He just moved up there after getting out of the Air Force and is working for Boeing. DH is a big time history buff and has never been to DC.

Other than that we will be at my Mom's lake house that is about 45 min away from here. Last summer was our trip to Russia.

We will also be going down to Jacksonville, FL a few times to visit by other brother before He and his wife return to Tallahassee for Grad School.

If I could travel anywhere..I would travel to different countries studing their religious culture. I studied World Religion in College and it would be neat to see all the diffenrent ways people celebtate their religion.
