Praise God! We have our letter!

Just found out this AM that our letter has arrived in the Regional office. My contact will setup a court date this Wednesday. She is thinking probably April 11th. Man, I am psyched. That will be 5 mos. after meeting our 10 and 8 year old siblings.

As some may remember, the bio mom has visited children 3-4 times during this period and has told children that she will get them back. Her parental rights were terminated. Meanwhile she still drinks and has never submitted paperwork to even try to re-establish her rights. All she has done is create confusion for these children.

So what do you all think? As tempted as I am to tell the children once we have a court date (we have weekly phone converesations), I think it is best to talk with the Director of Orphanage and suggest that our court date be kept a secret from ALL until the Sunday before the court date. Believe me, if there were 2-3 weeks that everyone knew we were coming, word would get to Bio Mom and she would most certainly come and raise a scene. This is a very small town that has never done an international adoption.

Anyway, we re-submitted our letter Feb 14th so it took about 6 weeks. I hope there is good news for all of you too!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is wonderful news.

From personal experience...please be prepared for the possibility that the birthfamily will want to meet you. No one was informed of our court date (suposedly) but still the family found out and travelled many hours to the orphanage. We were very stunned when our cooridinator came to us a few days before departure and said that the family was waiting at the orphanage to say goodby...we were put in a very precarious position. If we said no, we were heartless people who were taking this child without saying goodbye...if we did, our DD may not be pleased. As it was, we said yes as we wanted to meet them too so we could ask questions and get information. We were glad that we did. However, our situation was much different in that the family never said they would try and keep her....quite the opposite, they thanked us for taking her to a better life.

Again, congratulations!!!!

YIPPPEEE! You've waited a long time, and have gone through much to get your children!

I think you're wise to wait to tell the children until close to the court date - and I hope it's April 11!

Wooo Hoooo! I'm so excited for you. I think you are very wise to not saying anything until it is very close and very certain. Please keep us posted. I think it is so awesome that you get to talk to your children weekly. How are their spirits during this long wait?
Again, I'm so happy for you!

Talking No advice, but wow, great news!!!

I'm sorry that I can't give you advice, but I am so glad to hear that you got your letter. Does it make you worry less? It means the government wants YOU to have those kids, so congratulations, and I couldn't be happier for you.

PLEASE keep us posted!!

Hi,

Congratulations....I pray all goes well.

Does that region waive the 10 day appeals period? I thought that the appeal time was so family members can come forward.

Good Luck to you, you are in our prayers. I hope you get your angels home soon.

We went on trip #1 mid. Nov.
