Databank open by Feb 1?
My source in Russia told me today that an official from the Ministry of Education stated that he anticipates the databank to reopen by Feb 1st, perhaps a little earlier. I hope that's true. Anybody else hear any scuttle butt?

Can you imagine the backlog if it takes that long? There are going to be a line of people waiting for courtdates, hotels, flights, etc. I am praying that this is figured out quickly.

Marjo , I had that very same thought. We travelled right after the summer holidays (July and August) and it took the system a while to catch up from the backlog... not terrible, but it does become a bit of a bottleneck! I pray that the judges and officials will work extra hard and take on additional work after they re-open!

Does anyone have advise on what to do about going on the first trip. Would you still go....??? What if there are many months in between for the court date? Just not to sure how long this will last. Just feeling a little down. Trying to get dh to see that it will all work out okay if we travel.
Thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated. thanks Laura |

My agency encourages families to still travel for their first travel dates.
They stated: If you wait to travel for your first trip after the database is released, it will take longer to get your referral and your court date because of the flood of requests from all the agencies involved. Thus, you will be one step ahead in the process. Hope this helps, -Jo Waiting for a courty date... |

We just returned yesterday from our first trip. We were told our second trip will likely be in February. Hope this encourages those of you who might be anxious!

yeah, there will be some backlog but on the other hand, they would have been closed for the holidays anyway so that will help reduce the backlog.

Question about Database Slips
We've been on trip #1 and we've been told that the database slips should begin being issued again by February.
Here's my question: If the law requiring 6 months on database goes into effect, will it apply to children who were still on the database when they stopped issuing database slips? Will it depend on what documents Russia has...IE, if you've already submitted doocuments that you want to adopt the child? I'm just wondering what others have heard....THANKS!! ![]() |

data bank
Can someone explain this data bank to me.
Is this the reason we haven't heard about anyone getting court dates |

Hi, FYI, these posts are from 2004 and are referring to the shutdown at that time. Sometimes these old posts can be confusing if you do not look at the dates

.... and even if things WERE to go smoothly with the whole databank thing......... you still have some regions that will process V E R Y slowly.
the bottom line is that it is all out of our control. that's what makes everything so incredibly frustrating.

databank
I believe that the databank changed from 6 to 8 months last year.
We hosted a 8 y.o. girl last summer. There was a big mixup and our daughter-to-be wasn't on the databank. They placed her on the databank in September 2005. Adoption center facilitators in Russia told us the wait is 8 months and she will be available in May 2006. Maybe infants are a shorter time period. Tom --didn't see that most posts were from 2004-- *D'oH!*
