Adoption costs?
My wife & I have just finished our homestudy, been fingerprinted, & are getting ready to turn in our paperwork for USCIS & dossier.
We are trying to find out how much the adoption is going to cost (including additional/hidden costs such as travel, gifts, etc). Has anyone out there recently completed an adoption & would be willing to let us know how much it all costs? We don't want to get into the middle of everything & realize there was something that we were not told about. We would greatly appreciate any info you are willing to share ![]() |

We have been home exactly one year- and our cost was over $37K- flights, food, hotels, gifts for there and home, agency, etc.

I would just tell u that it can vary greatly! Everyone's situation is different and each agency can vary quite a bit! Travel can also vary a lot too depending on time of year, region, length of stay, where u stay etc!!!Good luck!

Depends on age of children and how many children. Also depends alot upon how "classy" you travel. For 2 children ages 4 and 6 at time of adoption our total costs were $19K. That's every airfare, lodging, food, gifts, and document accounted for. The last two, ages 3 and 8 at time of adoption were roughly around $25K total. All were non-sibs. Hope that helps you out but from what I'm hearing, our costs seem low compared to others. Best wishes on your journey.

Yes, I agree a lot has to do with travel accomodations, along with time of year and each agency's fees widely vary, but i belive by the time we finish up our fees will be around 22-23K, including travel, we would rather skimp a bit on lodging, its just temporary and i can do anything for a short period of time.

We are waiting on our final trip to bring home our little one, but we estimate that the entire process will have cost us about $30K. Well worth it though!

Our cost was approximately $30K total, with travel, gifts, donations, etc. Our adoption was completed in October of this year.

Take all of the adoption fees from the agency and add $2500 per person per trip for travel if you are within train travel of Moscow. The more time you spend in Moscow or St. Pete will add to your expenses because it is expensive to stay and get around these cities. We adopted three last December and spent around 32k.

Honestly, it was closer to 40K and there were no upgrades. We did have to travel during the height of tourist season though, so I'm sure we're a worse-case scenerio.

For our two kids we came in at about $63k with everything. We flew coach, but our region was farther out and that was an additional flight cost as well as a longer time in Russia.
