Can you change agency after trip 1
Is it possible to change agencies after you accepted and referral and still adopt the same child.
Our agency is now having an issue with our region and I am just sick to death cause we were told we would be traveling this month to finalize our adoption and now it seems there is now court date in sight until things are cleared up. Which they don't know when it will be. I am just weighing my options right now and not sure what to do. Thanks, -Jo |

If you have another agency in mind, your best bet may be to pose the question to that agency.
Good luck either way, you must be completely frustrated.

I don't know the answer, but just wanted to say I am praying for the best for you. It was wonderful to see your joy when you met your referral and I hope you are not delayed in bringing your little one home.

hang in there
I don't know the answer to your question but I know how frustrated you are. I am right there with you! We were counting on going to get our son before the end of the year and now it looks like it will be next year before we have our court date.
I would guess that if you found another agency, by the time you got all of their paperwork completed and everything submitted to their rep in your region this whole situation with our agency will be worked out. |

Jo,
I've put you on my prayer list. I can't imagine handling the fear of losing this baby you've met and fallen in love with any other way besides putting it in God's hands first before you make any other decisions. May He guide you to the best path to get your baby home! -Samantha |

From what I understand, this would be really hard to do. I have heard two different things - that some areas/orphanages are used only by one agency; but those orphanages who ARE used by more than one agency, they kind of "alternate" the children to the different agencies. So it's kind of like.... the child you were referred "goes" with the agency you are using.
You would definitely have to check with another agency about this.

Ack! Jo - I don't know the answer to your question - I will pray that your agency gets this worked out sooner rather than later so you can bring your child home!!!

We know of a family who was stuck in limbo as you are about a year ago and approached another agency with no luck, however, the last I heard they were going to contact an independent facilitator to see if he could be of help. I'm sorry I don't know what the outcome was, but perhaps it's a avenue you can also pursue.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers and hopefully, you will hear some news soon. Judy

Twinkle,
Kimtenn's husband here. I would really think that trying to change agencies would be a disaster. Just think how many documents you've had to do that were CHI specific. You would have to have all those redone, apostiled, translated, resubmitted, etc. Through all of this, I don't think CHI is specifically at fault. They are trying to do everything right, but it is the Russian government and the judge in Astrakhan that are causing the problem. You would have to find an agency that didn't have to re-certify this year, and I'm not sure who that would be. Trust me, we both feel the frustration you're going through. It's getting so bad, I'm getting grey hair (literally). But, all we can do is wait, and keep our eye on the prize! |

Thanks to everyone that posted. I talked to another agency and they looked into things for me. The end result is that it is impossible to adopt the same child using another agency. So we are going to wait it out. Maybe a miracle will happen and this accrediation thing will be resolved this week.
