I read that earlier today, and send an email to Mr. Peterson regarding one comment he made that I didn’t really care for.
Overall, I think it’s a well-written informative story that warns of the risks of walking into adoption with your eyes closed.

That quote in the article "only a few couples can do it (meanining Eastern European adoption) right" is truly offensive.

Quoted
I was one of the persons quoted in Mr. Peterson's article.
I agreewith the above poster and her opinion. Please email the author if you have a differing opinion or outcome. You cannot walk into the EE adoption process (EE, Guatemala, China, Kazakhstan, US domestic foster care) without knowledge. You should also read the linked artlce about the Trainer family. Ms. Trainer & her family are a good example of how adoption can succeed. Elizabeth Case dancase@frontiernet.net |

simular stories
there have been severeal stories aired on TV regarding the killing of an adopted Russian child.....
These stories SICKEN ME!!!! Regardless whether one is educated/affluent/famous does not QUALIFY anyone as an understanding parent. There are so many resources to turn to when having a problem/s with a child. This Pavlis case may uncover that both parents were unstable.... for whatever reason....I would venture to propose that being under-educated about institutionalized children wasn't really the Murderer.... The other case I vividly recall....couple adopted a blue eye blond 3yr old Russ boy. He too was murdered...but authorities could not prove it......CIRCUMSTANTIAL evidence...... claimed the same surprise/surprise).....boy kept battering his head leading to death..... The coroner's photo showed boy had extensive injuries on entire body....This particular couple was in financial distress. The male was a gambler...had debts. So they devised an adoption scheme: get kid with possible problems . The aforesaid, also took out a huge life insurance policy on this child.......RED FLAGGGGG!!!! Though they weren't convicted....they did not collect any money from the life ins policy........(maybe they'll adopt again...hey, loads of people out there looking to trade in lives....looking for American bucks)..... How clever and sick can some people be!!!!! The ".....berg" case in NY...they too killed a domestically adopted daughter. They were both educated/wealthy .....he was a famous lawyer......They lived in the house belonging to Samuel Clemons!!! How could this man be an abuser/a killer???? (no such thing!!!) His counterpart lives anonymously in NY state somewhere....meanwhile.....last I've heard he should be getting out!!!!! Now I've worked myself into a migraine....

We are attending an adoption info seminar tonight with EAC ... this article is so discouraging as we are thinking we'll go with Russia. I just don't know.

Didn't mean to upset anyone. I think they are comparing independent vs. agency and clearly going with an agency is truly the better route to take if you do not have the agility(sp?) or means to proceed and do the things that the agencies take care.
Maybe I'm wrong.... thanks for your comments.... Jeff
