khabarovsk
I traveled thru Khabarovsk this past summer. Overnighted on the way back from Blagoveschensk.
It's a big, bustling city. Lots of upscale Russian people shopping and dressed in stylish clothes. Quite a contrast from the 2 weeks I spent in Blago. |

Our girls are in Khabarovsk. We were there for trip #1 in July and are waiting for our court date. What questions do you have about the region?
Best to you, Lisa |

411 on Khabarovsk
My daughter is in Khabarovsk. I am waiting to hear a court date - aaargh, very frustrating. But I am staying busy. I'm happy to answer any questions you have about Khabarovsk.
It's a good-sized city - about a million people. Several nice hotels and plenty of restaurants. The town itself is beautiful - lots of gorgeous European style uildings. They also have a beautiful new Russian Orthodox cathedral, and several older churches which are lovely. The also have a nice museum. It's on the Amur river, which is the 2nd largest river in Russia - it looks like the Mississippi. Khabarovsk is the "county seat" of sorts for Komsomolsk and several other towns nearby. All the adoption hearings are in Khabarovsk. The only big drawback to Khabarovsk, ni my opinion, is that it's an 8-9 hour plane ride from Moscow. I went there on a choir trip in January 2003, and this past May on adoption trip #1. I'm happy to share my trip journals, or answer any more specific questions you might have. Did you accept a referral from Khabarovsk? Dee

We have accepted a boy referral from amursk, khrabarovsk and have submitted dossier and region specific paperwork and are now waiting for him to come off the registry at the end of October. We have not received our first travel date and are working on waiting patiently. We would love to talk with anyone who has experience in this region.

We are leaving for Khaborovsk on October 15th. As someone said, the drawback is the trip is about 7-8 hours from Moscow. It's all the added expense, too, because you have to travel twice. Also, the time between trips is very long.

We went to Khabarosvk on July 12th and are awaiting our court date. I agree, one of the drawbacks is that it is an 8-9 hour plane ride from Moscow. Plus, if your child is in Komsomolsk (which ours is) you have to travel 5 hours by car or take an overnight train ride there. It is a looonnngg way.
Also, the time between trips is running about 4-5 months right now and it is killing us. I don't understand why the time inbetween takes so long. When we started we were told less than 3 months between trips. I don't know what has changed. The upside is that our 2 beautiful kids are there waiting for us and we would travel around the world as many times as it took to get them. Christine (also from Alabama) |

We are between trips right now also. I really enjoyed Khabarovsk. It was a great town to walk around in. I am anxious to return to get our son but I am also finding myself looking forward to spending more time exploring Khab.
The down side for us has been the wait between trips but we knew that going in but it is still difficult. We did not mind the extra travel, although it does increase the cost slightly. We are thrilled with the region so far and would be willing to answer any questions you have. -Leigh |

We adopted our daughter (22 months old at the time) - from Khabarovsk Baby Home #2. She is doing great. We've been home with her since April of this year.
It was a great city to visit BTW - and we didn't mind the extra travel time. Just wanted to be with the best agency and it just so happens that the one we chose works a lot in Khaborovsk. |
